#zaps create demand for #bitcoin. If enough folks want to participate on here then they will spend fiat so they can zap more therefore bringing additional liquidity into the BTC network. This is working so far, the vibes are good- but we need more and more value4value apps/communities/etc to keep this train going.
Eventually, miners get paid to secure the network only through transaction fees on the final settlement layer (base chain). So block space needs to be increasingly valuable as time goes on. This won’t happen only through HODLing- we NEED to transact!
The base of the pyramid is probably e-cash. Then lightning above. Then base chain. So that pyramid base needs to be really fucking big for the settlement transactions at the pyramid top to be valuable enough to secure the network long term.
What we’re doing here on #nostr is a huge part of building that base. I don’t know about the rest of you- but I fucking love zapping people and paying for things in general using BTC. I feel like I’m not only directly sending value for awesomeness but also securing our network and paradoxically increasing the value of my HODL’ed stash.

Maybe never fully accountable. I debate this with myself too. But… the more of us there are that hold our own keys builds up a lever we haven’t had historically: the threat to leave with our wealth with the least friction that there has ever been.
Trump was smart to identify a huge group of people who are single issue voters and portray himself as the one who will help them.
Let’s hope he’s smart enough not to betray this group. For his own sake. I imagine this community could turn on him like wolves if they felt wronged.
Let’s keep him accountable.

Any wonder why people in this community hope for something more similar to the old cash/coin world where this level of surveillance wasn’t possible?
With the #bitcoin / #lightning / #ecash tech stack it’s possible to re-create similar conditions to the old world, but it must be developed with care because it CAN cut both ways.
We all have a right to (metaphorically) walk into a digital shop, pay for legal goods with basically untraceable tender, and be given the *choice* whether to reveal/share our actions to the world. This choice is what has been taken away from us- at first voluntarily through convenience and now slowly ever more through coercion and even outright forced compliance.
The magic of #bitcoin and the associated tech stack is that it’s now possible to leap frog the convenience part (it’s just THAT much better) while building back in the privacy / data control rights in a provable fashion.
And that’s motivating as fuck.
