If you use Firefox there are some tweaks you can make in about:config as well. One I believe is resistFingerprinting and it sometimes confuses site as to what your OS even is.

I think it's because nostr is currently filled with enthusiasts and is in somewhat of an idealistic phase. Some toxicity will come eventually for sure.
Does your client allow you to see which relay a note came from? If so just keep removing relays from global in order of most to least spammy until it clears up.
