Hillbilly engineer and plant nerd going feral

I like to dry yarrow to keep in my first aid kit. I put a pinch in my mouth to rehydrate then pack a wound to stop bleeding

Newly discovered #forage plant Cutleaf Toothwort or Dentaria laciniata. I took this photo last week. These were everywhere, but not many were flowering. Member of the mustard family, the leaves and roots were pepper-y and horseradish-y

What new plants are you learning about?

Here's more info on cutleaf toothwort

#grownostr

Maybe they were making room for next seasons stuff in the warehouse.

What are you sprouting? For what animals?

I sprouted sunflower seeds for my chickens last winter to give them some green stuff. I found 40 lb bags for $9. I should have bought the rest of the pallet

Why is amethyst not saving my followed hashtags? I just followed #permaculture , but it is not showing up. #grownostr is the only one that stays. I had 10 or so that disappeared one day.

Many places you can. I was allowed to have 8 hens in the town I was staying this year. You should find this in the town zoning laws.

If nothing is mentioned about chickens, I would keep some, but I may have a higher risk tolerance.

If chickens are not allowed, rabbits or quail can be good options that are quiet in comparison. Rabbit manure can be applied directly to the garden or worm bin. 🍻

That way you can ground a little longer with the other foot, smart
