Nigerians were told last October that the old notes were being replaced with new notes and they were encouraged to deposit any cash savings in the bank.

The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) said it redesigned the higher denomination notes - 200, 500 and 1,000 naira - to replace the dirty cash in circulation, to tackle inflation, curb counterfeiting and promote a cashless society.

GOSSIP USERS: I just pushed some changes that add BUTTERY SMOOTH SCROLLING. Instead of jumping 50 pts every mouse wheel click, it goes 100 pts spread out across the next 10 frames. So not only is it easier for your eye to track the movement, but you can scroll twice as fast.

How do we verify npubs of prolific people who may be targets of impersonation, or anyone for that matter, without relying on them to cross post their npub somewhere else, especially with an exodus of people leaving Twitter to come to Nostr where that was taking place mostly.

Long term I envision a Web of Trust type system that'll give you a probability of identity based on followers that you follow and some verification mechanisms in place around that.

NIP-05 is the best way currently, and doing a thorough sanity check yourself. I usually check their Twitter and see if my follows are following them.

Think of it as code author shuffling, It's the code that should be reviewed anyways, not the author.

This would make things very confusing and awesome.

I don’t know how someone can be hardcore Bitcoin and NOT hardcore Nostr. It almost makes me question their core values and whether they’re in this space for sincere reasons (beyond NGU reasons). But I know we are very early with Nostr and maybe it’s just me. Anyone else feeling the same way lately?

I follow 89 Nostriches. They follow another 2200 Nostriches. My web of trust is 2300 strong. They are responsible for over 10,000 messages per day.

The follow WOT on nostr seems like it could be a better verification measure than nip-05, which is trending toward centralization.

If you carefully select who you follow and most of them follow another user, that could serve as a repiable measure of verification.

This could of course be extended to allow adjusting the trust level per user either manually or automatically.

I'm trying to make sure I understand. Did you follow some users in Amerhyst before it had a chance to pull your current list of follows from the network?

Tried amethyst, then when I opened Damus I was no longer following anyone, doesn’t look like I dropped any relays, now manually re-following people

I have not used Damus, but have used two Amethyst and Iris and at least 3 web clients, frequently at the same time. Have not lost any data between them yet that i know of.
