I believe the most likely future is a complete bifurcation between the productive and unproductive... with each group passing different money. The unproductive will pass Federal slave tokens of some type and the productive will only accept and use a form of sound money: gold silver bitcoin. I'm seeing this in Argentina already with the farmers in the Pampas refusing to take pesos for their soybeans and having "terrorists" vandalize and destroy farmers stockpiles of soybeans they refuse to take to market at the current manipulated prices.
The kulaks held their wealth in highly visible and confiscatable land; bitcoiners are different in these aspects. For sure "hoards" (people with savings) will be demonized when the Federal gov goes bankrupt, but unlike in the USSR they can't pull off a great purge as they will not be able to disarm the populous.

These people are trading their free will for the insurance and security of the state. The state can only pay out these insurances (welfare, social security, ect.) by secretly stealing from the productive (fiat money printing).
