A goal for myself, and everyone:

Be far more mindful to not stubbornly criticize or praise something that you can’t explain. Be skeptical, whether positive or negative, until you can make a strong case for/against it in the face of opposition.

This was a huge mistake I made when I first got into #Bitcoin. My real journey started when I sought out strong, logical arguments for why Bitcoin would fail, and found myself able to make the case better than anyone, but knew enough that I could also explain why every point against it was wrong.

I still fail at this, but I’ve been humbled enough times to at least recognize and actively work to temper strong opinions about things when I’ve “read an article” or worse, I only saw a few headlines and didn’t even realize I read almost nothing about it except a few other peoples’ opinions of a social media post.

I am a developer with 15 years of experience spread across many languages and I have very high competency with docker and git. I should be much better than I am for having spent 15 years developing but software development has always just been a way to make money. It's a secondary passion of mine.

All of that said, I have been feeling a bit down on myself for not contributing to this space more. I think I have been putting it off for some kind of weird fear of "not being good enough" with all of the kings in this space and the little time in my life after being a dad to several little kids, etc.

Feel free to shill or just link me your project if you are interested my help. I am aiming to put in ~1 hour per day on open source work.

What we identify with, we extend. When our minds identify with love, love will extend through us. When we identify with guilt, this too will extend or project.

Number 7 is the only one that matters, thats is what will kill nostr and its ethos.. Few users are gonna pay to move to nostr when they can pay to stay on twitter with the same problems. Its impossible to tell any nostrdev this because their job (or their billionaire CEO wannabe complex) depends upon their not understanding it.

The Nostr experiment will teach us that:

1. Entrepreneurship is HARD. Beware survivorship bias.

2. VC money doesn't guarantee success. It just means you have more to burn through.

3. You have to cultivate a brand to rally support

4. You HAVE to charge. Free only amounts to more free. Paying = signal. That's not to say that you can't have some free, but someone has to pay and signal for desired features.

5. You HAVE to do marketing. Build it and they will come is a fallacy. Only works on rare occasions when you build something truly spectacular. Ideal marketing split is AT MINIMUM 50/50 build/hustle to get the word out.

6. People lie. They say one thing but do another. Back to payment = signal.

7. What developer values ≠ what users value

8. Building something truly unique can work against you because new concepts are harder to explain. Familiar = less selling required.

Dude, League of Legends was an entirely free game that made boatloads off selling skins.

This is a great idea that some should try. Profile “skins” and badges based on project support would be really interesting. Could revive badges too if they could be given/taken based on a length of time or status of support for a certain project or client.

This is a social network, I think exploring ways to monetize social signaling is actually a smart strategy.
