I've grown the past few years myself. When I was at Nasa Ames in Maryland in 2017 I snagged some pods of the Bel-b tobacco they had growing outside the front door as a plant that tolerates ozone. They grew great in my greenhouse and now volunteer all over the farm.
It was well worth the drive yesterday to explore the waterfall ice despite going solo. I had all the gear I needed EXCEPT ice screws.... Rather annoyed I didn't stop to get them on the way but at least now I know how easy it is to get to. As soon as the rains stop and Art feels better we are going back and will climb the waterfall. I plan to bring my drill and install an anchor on top since this looks to form every year. 2 hours from the farm to the trailhead and a 25 minute hike up.

GOD DAMNIT! Buddy got sick so I ended up at the base of the ice waterfall alone with no ice screws but rope, tools, and crampons... I had a major internal battle with myself over whether to free solo it or not... The safe side won out and I just dicked around on the bottom 10 feet. We are going back as soon as he feels better!

Years ago I was injured so went on craigslist and put a wanted electronics and components ad which garnered me a heap of cool stuff to tear apart. I probably inhaled a bit too much solder during the process but I have a ton of parts now that occasionally come in handy.
It feels good to actually repair an item and have it work correctly!
There are reasons why I keep oodles of reclaimed electrical parts. The capacitor on the stereo remote broke and I managed to find the exact right replacement in my parts bins. Stupid remote was wonky for a long time.

I've had that enough rock climbing but front pointing puts a serious burn on the calves! It's a tiered waterfall so not tons of straight vert.
Which guy is going to hopefully be #iceclimbing a waterfall mid day tomorrow? Yep, we might still have a 150+ ft tall frozen waterfall in the Kettle Crest Mountains waiting for our ascent. We will snow shoe in tomorrow with rack and see if it's in good enough condition still and if it is we will give it a go. Super stoked and excited for this!

The warmup is here and the rain is coming, well it will be, I can hear it moaning ready to release from across the state. Soon the snow will be gone and the tiller will need to be readied for the workload. Granted I am paring down how much I'm growing since I'm not looking to actively sell. A decade being majorly tied to the garden on a daily basis was enough for me. Hence the garlic and potatoes that require little but plant and harvest once.

Pretty sure it was the Jolly Roger cookbook that had the bit about soaking a pack of cigarettes in alcohol to get a super strong poison.
After getting the grain in town and a filling at the dentist yesterday morning I ran the snow blower around the farm for a while. The warmup has begun like I said it would and we are headed for Spring. 50F by Sunday means the farm will be a sloppy mess and I want the snow moved to get the ground exposed.
4 Nations #hockey great and the US v Canada final on Thursday should be awesome. Our local Spokane Chiefs played Kamloops and a Kamloops player took a puck to the mouth and lost most of his teeth on hte ice, the ref carried them over to the bench.... Poor dude, it's only the WHL too.
