I've just received a grant of $25,000 USD (in Bitcoin) to work alongside the Human Rights Foundation educating political dissidents around how to use BTC. I'm very humbled and excited.

Rather than focus on me for this post though, I want to take you on a journey regarding one of the stories I've witnessed at the Oslo Freedom Forum that has had the most impact on me.

In Oslo 2022, I watched a woman take the stage and talk about her activist husband who had been abducted and imprisoned in Nicaragua, leaving their daughter fatherless, as they had no contact with him at all.

I also met a wonderful woman learning about Bitcoin wallets for the first time, as a way to fundraise and get money into countries where dissident bank accounts would be shut down.

A year later I returned to Oslo and learned two things.

1. The woman I spoke with/coached and the woman onstage were the same person. Her name is Berta Maradiaga.

2. Due to the efforts of the HRF her husband Felix had been freed and returned to them for the first time in 3 years. They even showed a video of his daughter's tearful first reunion.

I encourage you to watch all 3 videos here. It is a harrowing story and it emotionally broke me watching it play out in real time. I got to spend a bunch of time with Berta recently at Bitcoin Park in Nashville, and she continues to learn about BTC and how it can be used to further their cause. She is wonderful.

Grab your tissues.

Wow! The company I work for outsourced work in Nicaragua. This drives me crazy and I can’t believe that they are there and in my eyes supporting this shit.

Question for the brilliant minds out there. What if @BlackRock does gets & launches BTC ETF first. $GBTC stays as it is & $BTC price starts to fly. The discount will start to turn into premium & performance would be greater than all. Isn’t that something $GBTC holders prefer? If that scenario plays out I also understand that would be the demise of @Grayscale.

I don’t understand the want to see these exchanges fail. The more they fail the harder it will be for us who want to see BTC succeed. The more they fail the worse the legislation will be when it finally passes. The more they fail the more big banks will take over! It’s the exact opposite of what we want!

On the flip side if they are doing some fuckery than fuck them and let them fail.

My other personality is demanding of it! He is such an asshole.

Is there a way to add a second profile on Damus? Or do we just have to use another app?

Yes and also thanks for making things easy to understand. 👊🏽

Stacking sats here or stacking sats there. Don’t matter cause we all need to stack them! nostr:npub1cj8znuztfqkvq89pl8hceph0svvvqk0qay6nydgk9uyq7fhpfsgsqwrz4u is a rockstar along with that beautiful wife nostr:npub1hu3hdctm5nkzd8gslnyedfr5ddz3z547jqcl5j88g4fame2jd08qh6h8nh. Every year, I spend 1-2 months living in Egypt. This is because my husband is originally from Egypt, his family is much larger than mine, and so while our economic base is in the US, our social base is actually in Egypt. I thus became multinational many years ago.

However, my husband spends 3-4 months each year in Egypt, while I only spend 1-2 months there. So, there are 1-2 months where I’m in the US alone. The reason I choose to do this is to look after the household and business, and because I’m not as productive in Egypt (inconsistent internet, less optimal workstation, way more social pressures, and so forth).

In some ways, we find that spending some time apart strengthens our relationship and lets us focus on our separate things for part of the year. And when we meet after 1-2 months, it’s such a great reunion. We find ourselves wanting to catch up on so much and spend extra time together. But also, even though in some ways I look forward to having time alone and indeed get a lot done during that time, I immediately regret it once I am alone. I find myself constantly looking forward to going to Egypt, as I am now. During these periods, I end up posting more on social media, either constructively or non-constructively, in what tends to be a replacement for diminished in-person contact.

This seems to be amplified by my work situation. When I was an engineer, I worked with colleagues in person each day, but now that I work from home, my colleagues are virtual and I meet them in person only at major events. So, this relatively brief window each year of being in a different place than my husband tends to be oddly monk-like, with me at home alone 24 hours per day, working and living and doing whatever I do. I think one of my future goals will be to increase my deliberate effort at spending time with local friends, especially during this part of the year.

Anyway, I’m doing a series of “real thoughts” uniquely on Nostr, and this is the first one.

Conclusion: Social circles are (obviously) a very important thing, including for workaholics and introverts like myself. Social circles affect us in various ways, and having gone through many cycles, I have become increasingly aware of the changes that take place during these seasonal cycles of being close to others vs far from others.

🙏🏼❤️

We call it slop. Ground beef, Italian sausage, eggs, rice, and cook on pan with some soy sauce 🤤🤤🤤

I have been a Regional/District Manager for Retail companies the last 10 years. Over the years I have seen a steady decline of quality employees. After the pandemic it is the worst I have seen. To this date it is not getting better especially companies down sizing and making Retail work on skeleton crews and that causes the employees to work longer and harder. To add another thing I am seeing is people applying to jobs but not showing up to interviews. Those that do show up want a ridiculous among of money not in line with the position that they are applying for. What is going on in this world where the disrespect of no showing on an interview, asking much more then what the position call for, and when they are working they come late and call in consistently. We already live in a 🤡🌎 I am so concerned with these type of candidates/employees are the future of our country!

I’ll say this here as I tell my kids al the time. Work hard and save as much money as you can while you are young and healthy. Buy Bitcoin(haven’t 🟠💊) and just sit on it. Nobody will be taking care of you so you need those $$ to ensure you will be financially secure.

So need help out there. Why Mutiny over Muun?
