I like Cardano, as an idea. I think they're genuine about what they're trying to do and their principles.
Doesn't mean I think Cardano can do what BTC does -- it can't and THERE IS NO SECOND BEST. So I save my wealth in BTC, not in Cardano. However I do think there is a fundamental difference between Cardano, with their approach of putting out peer reviewed papers on every fucking single thing -- which I'm not qualified to judge --, their choice of UTXO, a defined max supply and regular preprogrammed issuance, and their effort to build truly decentralized governance (they're passing a Constitution soon?), versus other projects like Ethereum.
I have asked Cardano people many times to explain their claims that their version of PoS "Ouroboros" whatever version it is now, is as safe as PoW, and they have this "if you don't get it I don't have to explain it to you" kind of attitude of referring people to their multiple papers. So it is what it is, though.
I watched the video yesterday. Wild stuff.
He still is, regardless of his position on bitcoin. His political takes are spot on and he's basically the only "crypto" guy who speaks up and is principled.
I tried them last night with some pork chops, and I was able to slice them paper thin in one single pass of the blade. It just makes food taste so much better...
Japanese entertainment TV once again making a display of sheer superiority versus Western TV, and illustrating why it's alive and kicking, unlike its Euroamerican counterpart.
Yes. It's a dude with his head inside a water tank who must hold his breath for 4 minutes while some chick sings a song and a panel of famous entertainers and the audience laugh at his distorted face.
I don't see ANYTHING remotely like that on that freaking thing, but good for you xD

Don't worry, they say that they will not compare the images they collect against other sources than the own criminal database, and that they will not collect images from any other source like social media either.

I literally finished watching it on YT, then closed the browser window, opened it up again to check one thing, and when the YT tab automatically re-opened, I had a message that the video was no longer available.
I don't know how famous this brand is outside of the Iberian Peninsula, but over here it's a staple. Far from me to shill a commercial product, but I've always been a fan of their kitchen knives. Great price point for the quality.
Just in -- a couple of very slicy, rather nice looking, really inexpensive Spanish steak knives.
This is what a blade for meat needs to be like -- if you actually like eating meat and have some respect for it.
Holy shit, I know where they interviewed the guy xD
There's this Spanish libertarian guy (there's approximately a grand total of TWO libertarians in Spain, at most...) I listen to who was talking the other day about Milei's dangerous liaisons with the European far right, which are being exploited at will by the commies and the media to create the idea that libertarianism is a far right ideology, with all the ideological baggage that entails in Europe and Latin America.
Milei justifies this saying that power is a zero sum game: "if we don't have it, they do", so an anti-socialist alliance must prevail. But some of Milei's supposed allies are as socialist as any communist. They all want huge welfare states, trade barriers, nationalized industries, and so on, plus a range of anti-individual illiberal social regulations.
The YT guy argues that given all this, what happens when "we" grab the power? Whose program is to be applied? The libertarian one, or the far right one?
So yes, I agree that the motivated, freedom-minded citizenry may need allies. It may not, but let's say it does. We must remain vigilant anyway, and be the ones who lead, in that case. Ruthlessly.
The second two were tools (crucial ones, yes) that the armed, politically motivated citizen happened to have at his disposal by chance, not really the actors themselves of the political process. And Freemasons were a subset of those same politically motivated, armed citizens. Of course, they were responsible for a lot of the ideology that motivated them, but again, just as Freemasons, no, they were not the actors.
Needless to say, I wasn't restricting myself to the specific case of the US or even to the specific outcome that the US achieved. It could have gone the other way, and it would still be the case that it was the armed, motivated citizenry who had tried to uphold and defend those values and ideology, even if it failed.
The point is that it will never be a State agent the one who does it, because his loyalty is to the State, always.
That's like saying you could undercut Venmo too. You just need to go through whatever licensing process Venmo went and have the people, infrastructure and knowledge to run the business.
3% is highway robbery. Wise charges fractions of a %.
I keep saying this, and I understand it's tough to swallow for bitcoiners, but we do not have a payments problem with fiat, for the most part.
Good for them. All they do is yap and whine though. Never really get anything done.
