Trying this #introductions thing again since I think I kind of know what I’m doing now, maybe.

I’m Jackie, made my way over here from TikTok. So far loving the vibes.

Im like an onion but my main interests I love sharing about fall under #gardening #cooking #homesteading #thrifting

Here is a picture of me starting seeds in egg cartons, (since it’s not obvious)

It’s great because for the lower school all the tools are hand tools, so hand drill, hand saw, etc. The school keeps a showcase of recent work the students do by the front door too.

Can we add a horticulture class too, and mandate that every school have it's own greenhouse?

Students in my local school district have the opportunity to pursue various programs at a vocational school while taking regular classes at their high school. The vocational school also helps with job placement and/or apprenticeships after graduation.

My 2nd grader has Woodshop. She loves it, but it’s hilarious what the kids make in wood: lately there is a trend of making the wooden Nintendo Switch. LOL. Mostly she makes animals.

I've looked at those a few times. I've considered using them as a cold frame by only filling 1/2-2/3 full and building a simple top over it. It would save some fill that way. Modified hugelculture seems useful to that end as well.

Spent this morning putting together a 4X8X2' raised garden. The thing had 138 bolts to hold it together. I bought 2 others, but they will have to effing wait untill next week, it took Kate and me a couple of hours to get one together. And no matter how much math you put into it, you never have enough soil because of settling, etc. Well, at least it is too high for the dog to get into it to dig.

It is kind of messed up that as a human born into this world - a planet you inherit, you are unable to roam freely the surface, without filling out a bunch of forms, waiting decades in some cases and then getting permission to go.

I get the reasons, but still, feels very unnatural and unethical.

I came to the sad realization that I do not dare to look forward to anything anymore

My grandfather was a tool designer. He’d always be making “a jig for that”. 🧡
