I think a lot of adults on conventional social media (esp since TikTok) forget how much we share the space with teenagers. No where else in history have adults and children sharing spaces to this extent, on a peer level - it's not natural. Even if you only follow people your own age - you're likely still engaging with their comments and observing/participating in the viral trends that they invent. Millennials need gen-z approval/clicks to go viral, so it makes sense that we regress back to using our teen-brains online. And it makes us collectively less mature. I've been noticing lately how IG is full of 30-something year olds that are just full-time regressing back into teen-brain things like celebrity worship (which we do before we learn what real success is), rating people and being overly focused on body types/physical features (which we all do before we fall in love and learn that it transcends so so much), slut-shaming, gender wars, bullying (which we do before we grow up and realize everyone is just scared and/or angry). It's honestly super WEIRD how millennials spend so much time on the internet engaged at a peer-level in conversations led by 13 year olds (incapable of nuance). And I think it hinders a lot of people's spiritual(for lack of better word?) development. I could see how it's a bit of an escape - to steep in this lower consciousness - but it seems like it's at the expense of growing up and finding stability and being more real and free and open and genuine. And like I said, it's weird...

Hi Emily! I read this thread and it sounds to me like you’ve got to the right conclusion.

Nothing wrong with sharing on social platforms but it is certainly not for everyone for the reason you described.

I often read something and I want to express my pov right then right there as I genuinely feel it. As soon as I read my comments, I press delete. Just in case in feel differently or change my mind in the future. I usually have a positive outlook and I assume the best on people but I also know it is a big world out there and opinions and perceptions are varied, some even extreme. The way our feelings and events are interpreted is no different.

For that and more, I often think; If I want the world to really know how I think, feel or what I’ve been through, I’ll write my memoirs. At least that way a more thorough process goes into it!

For now, I keep it to my journal and the occasional slightly subtle posts. I respect and admire those who share more candidly.

Like you, I also avoid having an anonymous profile. That way I check myself at the tip of my posts!

May you continue to bring nice and sweet things to this world in your authentic way.

Where do I enter my email address? What's my password? Oh shit, I forgot it already. Who's the CEO? How can I call tech support? Why does everyone misspell "Sit" so much and want to send each other "sats". People have been trained like Pavlov's dog to have the brains of toddlers and rely on someone else to answer their problems for them. It's going to take a while.

#Nostr is pretty fucking easy to use. Idk what so many people complain about. You download an app and post stuff. You figure out the rest from there as you go, same as any other new “social media” that comes out.

Once you've set it up it's easy to sue but I literally can't convince anyone to join after I tell them Nostr is actually not the app, they don't want to understand why a protocol is, let alone how to store their keys.. its a new paradigm and def can't be compared to old ones imo
