There are definitely issues in the commercial banking system at the moment. Never gets much coverage when the BoE uses its repo (repurchase) operation tool to “manage” liquidity problems in the financial / commercial banking system (it’s a bit like short-term QE). The BoE does it quite regularly (monthly or so) by lending money against securities, buying them back at a higher price a little while later (influences interest rates too). All to try and stave off bank funding stress and credit crunches but it’s the size! It just keeps growing. I think the amount was around £17bn a year ago and £3bn a couple of years ago. Bonkers.

The Lightning confirmation time with Tether funded POS terminals here is surprisingly slow, close to a minute from Phoenix despite instant confirmation in app. How have they fucked that up so much?

Main issue for spending is value though. Switzerland unfortunately seems critically overpriced. To compensate couldn't help but stack 10K the sats I'd spend today. This is my protest.

Watched a few YT Swiss history/mentality/money-glitch videos this evening in an attempt to try and understand the national psyche. Three weeks military service is obligatory for service aged Swiss men. After the US, the Swiss have the second highest gun ownership per capita. Despite not experiencing armed conflict in 210 years they've guns aimed at bordering countries at all times and can mobilise 150K soldiers within 24hrs. Fascinating.

Unpopular opinion. I don't hate frontline statists like police or tax collectors, I pity them.

They have completely lost their own minds to the propaganda machine.

They get none of the benefits that accrue to the politicians.

If they figure it out, they have to find a way to start their entire life over with an honest profession.

If they figure it out, they have to live the rest of their lives with the guilt of every action they took in defense of the state.

Their statist choices have only harmed them, arguably more than the average person.

Enjoy Lugano. Just be ready to teach these commerce how to generate the lightning invoice on their terminals, by default it's a kind of Shitcoin card call Naka. You have to know that Tether distribute these terminal for free to merchants and pushed adoption of this Naka system by giving away cards with 10 bucks preloaded on it for "free", I mean against a full KYC registration of course. The terminals accept also USDT and Bitcoin on chain and Lightning. You must show the merchant how to select the Bitcoin Lightning option.

And don't be afraid of the lag, these terminals are super slow to confirm, like 10-20sec after your wallet confirm the invoice as paid, so don't panic. Beside that it's pretty cool. Mary pizzeria has nice pizza and view on the lake, but many others on the central plazza and arround are nice as well.

Don't forget to buy sats back while you spend or shortly aftet you will be back. My last visit in Lugano I spent a lot of sats and didn't buy back fast enough until it rise 20-30%
