Not sure about the state of standardizing nostr reactions like ❤️ etc. but how about a convention: If the reply contains only a single UTF8 symbol, show it as reaction in the context of the replied to event.

Databases can still be fast without indices when they're small. It will be up to relays to add indices where it makes sense. Not sure how tags are indexed in the rust relay...

I would like that. There are some many use cases and relays would have to implement logic for every situation if we didn't have something general.

There could be tags for:

- permanent

- replaceable

- transient

I guess it's more than an optimization, it serves a few more purposes:

* doesn't change if the note is ever edited

* gives a hint to client as to which event reference to create a preview for

* allows you to load the initial thread on first click since the embedded note includes the root_id

Yes nothing changes, the preview tag is just an optimization for quoted boosts. For kind7 boosts i just put that in the content itself

I might do quoted posts with their own kind in the future (maybe with preview event encoded in a tag). I think it's just better to be explicit to make it easier on implementors and to eliminate ambiguity between implementations.

yes it's distinct from quoted posts which I think should be what you're doing here (kind 1). I haven't done a writeup yet but there are some examples on relays if you query them. I can do a writeup today to get some feedback.

This is why I like the explicit kind (7), less interpretation between clients.
