Could you share your thoughts on why having the ability to directly tip chat messages might be important? Keychat’s group chats are primarily intended for friends rather than strangers.

Do you mean tipping chat messages?

You can now search chat history, although the feature is still a bit basic. The search box at the top of the chat page lets you search through past messages.

I wrote about this in the article below, where I discuss the folly of investing in altcoins as a money. There was only the gold standard up till 1971, there was never a silver or copper standard.

But many altcoins have utility for a specific market or project and yes many do useful things, my issue has always been speculative investment in them for purely monetary gain.

But then if you think about it, altcoins could be compared to company stocks. Many people buy Telsa shares purely for the monetary gain without caring what the company is doing. Many also buy Telsa shares because they believe in the company and are passionate about its success. There are thousands of companies and everybody has a different view as to which company will succeed and the reasons for this.

I am then drawn to the example of (Micro)Strategy they used to be a public company that provided computer services, you could buy and trade their shares on the stock market. Saylor turned them into a Bitcoin Reserve company and now they are far more valuable, but the company itself does nothing. It has creditors and shareholders, but no customers. It used to have customers and shareholders and a few creditors.

I worry about companies copying (Micro)Strategy's success and moving away from doing useful things for society or their customers and doing nothing but hold Bitcoin.

I digress, but yes, some altcoins have validity and utility, identifying which is the difficulty, we are effectively in the wild west of "crypto" for the moment, which is why some think the 2000 dot com crash might repeat with crypto in the near future.

Just today I had a discussion with some colleagues and I realized how big the knowledge gap is. And they are educated people who are interested in Bitcoin. Still, it takes some serious studying and also pre-knowledge to „get it“.

I think the majority of the people will never understand Bitcoin. Still at one point, everyone will use Bitcoin. Just because most people follow the masses.

I think most just see Bitcoin like any other investment. They don’t see the big picture. It takes lots of time and efforts to create this understanding. Most don’t have the time or are just not interested.

Volatility comes from speculation. Downtrends come from weak hands that do not understand Bitcoin (yet). I think rarely from plebs that need to buy essentials.

Less and less bitcoin on the exchanges. Less and less every month that are selling at all at these prices. Currently most of the bitcoin that are being acquired are bought from diamond hands like Strategy, states, etc. imho.

I agree, but I'm also trying to get good arguments together, so that I can stop my friends selling BTC to buy Ether. How do we concisely make some calm arguments that a non-expert will appreciate?

- BTC had the hard 21 million cap. Whereas Ether just has an 18 million per year limit, and is therefore unlimited. I.e. Ether will never really have the scarcity

- Ether is more easily controlled by a small number of (known) humans, as the creator still has authority. This increases the chance of them making a mistake, and/or being selfish in a way that tanks the price

- Many Ether purchasers (mistakenly) think they have "missed out" on Bitcoin and therefore they think they are being smart by buying the second-best. So they don't actually believe in Ether, they're just arbitrarily buying the thing that (by chance) happens to have the second-highest market cap

Does that make sense? Would you add more?
