In a world of devices and distractions, doomscrolling, and a competitive “attention economy,” it’s worth protecting (reclaiming?) a few minutes of every day to sit with yourself, quietly.
For all the talk among bitcoiners about being self-sovereign, it’s odd to me that there isn’t a vibrant cohort of meditators. What could be more self-sovereign than being in control of your own mind?
Sit for a few minutes, free from distraction, paying attention only to your breathing and the nature of consciousness.

I’ve listened to pods with Jeff before (and read The Price of Tomorrow) but, for some reason this interview was my favorite. It’s not necessarily that he said anything completely different in this one. Stop. Close your eyes. Listen.
Pay attention to the sounds. See if you can notice the moment a sound occurs. It’s not possible to block a sound, once it enters your awareness. It’s just there. A puff of wind in the trees. A dog barking. A noise from a car. You cannot choose to create these sounds. They simply appear in consciousness.
The same is true for your thoughts. They just simply appear, and then disappear.
How long can you hold onto a thought before it slips away and a new one enters your mind? Are you really “in control” of your thoughts?

My concern with this “digital property” classification is that it can then be taxed as other real property is. It is not difficult to imagine a property tax on digital property at the state or federal level, as opposed to the city or county level.
It would be much better to classify bitcoin as a “digital commodity” nostr:npub15dqlghlewk84wz3pkqqvzl2w2w36f97g89ljds8x6c094nlu02vqjllm5m

Okay, here’s a thought…
#Bitcoin’s time chain is a terrestrial method of tracking blocks (and thus transactions) as they occur through time. With Blockstream’s satellite node, we’ve moved off the earth’s surface. Later, if we colonize the moon and mars, and have miners and nodes there, the time it takes for a transaction to be confirmed will be longer. I mean, yes, blocks will still be mined every 10mins, but 10mins according to where?
Hence, you may not consider your transaction to be “sufficiently buried” until it reaches, say, 20 blocks deep as opposed to 6, currently, just to be sure your Tx wasn’t part of a chain that got orphaned.

I saw a tweet a while back about how 70-80 year olds are generally regarded as unemployable, whether due to mental decline or a basic failure to learn new skills or understand current technology.
So how is it that this age cohort is almost exclusively running the country?
This is not a Republican v. Democrat issue.

See if you can pay attention to the beginning of your next inhalation. Where do you feel it most acutely? It might be your nose, your abdomen, your chest, or perhaps somewhere else?
If you don’t see it immediately, don’t worry. Your body will inhale again in a moment, without you trying to control it.
Just pay attention to where you feel it occur. See if you can hold your attention at the start of the inhalation for 3 consecutive breaths.
