You’ll definitely want to set up a lightning wallet and connect it to your Nostr account, or depending on the client you use, it may come with a wallet. Then you can get zaps just for your notes, like this one, showing off your work.

And you can zap folks who note something that you find interesting/of value.

I’ve done a few commissions for sats, but getting zaps/sats for my notes and interactions here on Nostr is the real thrill.

As for an artistic community… can’t help you. I follow artists and many kinds of folks, and get zaps from artists and many kinds of folks.

Because there isn’t an algorithm, you have to put in the work to make consistent notes and interact with others. And that just takes time.

That can be hardest part. As an artist designing for someone else, it’s extremely helpful to have examples provided.

Kittl.com has a large range of logo designs, if you want to browse and see if somethings catch your eye. Or ask folks to reply with some of their own examples.

Someone mentioned a mood board: that would be less specific logo examples and more photos and colors of what you want someone looking at the logo to see/feel and what you like and don’t like, because what you don’t like is important info …… I worked on a project where the designs made it all the way up to the final stakeholder who didn’t like green, which no one had bothered to tell us. 😮‍💨

The contest idea is a fun and feels in the spirit of Nostr.

It would get you a range of first impressions to then choose a direction and since the artist is paid for revisions, you could even choose more than one person to work with if you like more than one design. 👍

From my experience, contracting art on Nostr is very loose, and it depends who you work with. That amount of sats is a lot to me, so I default to the process and questions art directors I worked with in my career would use and how I model my own contract art services.

Someone brought up commercial rights … selling something with a logo, even to just club members would technically fall under that. A commercial license could be just an additional flat fee (or whatever you work out with the designer) that gives you the right to sell stuff using the logo. Otherwise the understanding is you don’t sell any stuff: the personal license.

You may also want to set a time limit/expectations: when you want to see designs, how long for revisions.

And decide how you are going to communicate: DMs, email, 0xchat. Id recommend email as it’s been more reliable for me than DMs of any kind.

I’ve had very good art commission experiences with Nostr and some where the follow up for info somehow fell through. 🤷

I’d say yes and set a specific number of revision iterations- that’s where it can get crazy, the back and forth to get it “just right”.

Also specify what kind of files are you getting: just for online? High enough resolution in case you want to print Tshirts or something else? Vector or raster (vector can scale without loosing resolution, raster doesn’t scale larger but can be designed large and get smaller while still looking good.).

All that may be a lot for your purposes, but in my mind, you are paying for a professional experience.
