"Freedom of speech is being able to tell someone else something they don't want to hear." "No matter what you say, someone is going to be offended." "Once you realize that politicians are not altruistic, and that they're in politics for themselves and their own personal gain, then everything makes sense." "No one is above the law." "Have you ever met a poor politician?"

You need a Google Pixel.

The best choice now is one of the Pixel 8s...there are some security features in those that are new (i.e. not in the 7 series) that Graphene is leveraging, and you'll get the longest support.

Having said that, it's (of course) the most expensive.

I usually go one generation older (so the Pixel 7a is a great choice and is probably your best price point right now..

You may want to wait until the 13th--looks like Google has a product launch scheduled--and once the Pixel 9 comes out, the prices of older phones will drop. And of course Black Friday is also a great time to buy.

BE SURE TO GET ONE ONLY FROM GOOGLE - YOU CANNOT USE ONE THAT IS CARRIER LOCKED (i.e. buying from Verizon or T-Mobile will NOT work)

Happy to answer any quesitons!

GM NOSTRVerse, let’s have a great day and learn something.

For ₿itcoin to become a currency, we must spend it. Until now, I’ve used the spend and replace method as a way to grow the network. That’s all about to change. If you’re a nostr:npub1ex7mdykw786qxvmtuls208uyxmn0hse95rfwsarvfde5yg6wy7jq6qvyt9 user, you have the ability to load your wallet with fiat, then pay a lightning invoice. While this doesn’t sound like much, it’s really a big deal. You see, when you do this, You never own the sats meaning you don’t have a taxable event to worry about. Strike handles all of this in the background.

I’m sure plenty of you know about this already. But as I’ve learned during my time here, there’s something new happening all the time and it’s impossible to know everything. If this is your first time hearing about this feature, respond to this note with 💥. I want to know if I’m wasting everyone’s time or if I’m providing value.

Also if there’s interest, I’m considering a demo video to show how this works.

PV and Each One Teach One, that’s how we grow the network 🤙🏻🫡

Grea post! And a great idea (never really thought of it that way, but it is indeed true!)

I have to disagree somewhat (but I agree with Despota's comment on friction. Ask an iPhone user to give it up and switch to Android is like taking away their opium. And if they DO switch, they're met with a large learning curve, and a month or two of swearing before they get used to it (or in many cases switch back).

Same with Android really--that side of the fence also doesn't want to switch.

But I disagree with "needing an engineering degree" to use--

Switching to #GrapheneOS is simple (really). Go to https://grapheneos.org/ and click the blue button, then follow the prompts to click the remaining blue buttons. It's a fully web-based install...

As for a GPS that "actually works" you simply download an app (just like on iPhobne or Google). I prefer OsmAnd (although there are others). Download that, turn on location, and you've got turn-by-turn navigation just like Google...simple.

So the options are out there--but I think it's user inertia more than anything else. Most are inherently lazy (how often have you seen folks not even willing to entertain even listening about BTC? Same thing...)

What's that say about Nostr? Maybe folks will end up using one client...but with so much out there, that's like saying "I use a word processor, but I don't want to use a spreadsheet--that's too much trouble"...

But it doesn't mean we don't need spreadsheets...

Folks for years have been saying "when will the next 'killer app' come out?"

Well, you're using it...

And we don't really know what some bright, talented (maybe even a bit quirky or unconventional) programmer wil come up with that no one ever thought of...

(Know anyone like that L?) 😃

GM Nostr!

Happy Wednesday!!

And happy effective Friday (for those in the US)...

And that calls for an extra cup of coffee!!

#coffeechain

Maybe email is a good comparison?

Currently, GMail predominates--but there are other popular, and (frankly) very good alternatives.

I may be wrong, but I don't see GMail ever becoming the "only supplier"...

(There will always be a better mousetrap)

So it is with Nostr---there may be some "top" clients (eventually) but innovation will preclude there being only one (Highlander notwithstanding).

I don't disagree--government has no right to violate you.

But you CAN influence local politics, and if anything is to be accomplished, it HAS to start there...

Disagree--EVERYONE should vote, as you CAN influence your local elections.

IF things are going to change--it's going to happen locally.

Local influences regional.

Regional influences State.

State influences National.

Oh absolutely - but they're just "useful idiots" by joining the blue team or the red team.

Focusing on blue/red deflects from the real enemy - the government.

If the politicians can keep the red team hating the blue team it deflects blame from them. Genius move really--people are such sheep.

This is called propaganda...

The ONLY cause of inflation is money printing by the government.

Don't fall for the lies...

It's all politicians...(right and left are an illusion)

Let's review - there are well over 300 million people in the US (IIRC)...(and who knows how many now with all the illegals)

And out of all of those people, we get the two current candidates for president?

Seriously?

And you''d like us to believe that government is on the level, and completely above board?

Government IS the problem...

Now I do agree with you...yet (playing devil's advocate for both or us) if we make defense spending a voluntary thing, then in times of peace the funding would likely be low, and then when you need the military (say you were attacked) you likely would be caught without sufficient funding...and no time to build up (even if you could quickly raise the funds).

Not defending the military waste (at all) yet I see in this example something that would need proactive funding. Maybe there are other (better?) examples, but I do think there should be some limited central services...

I do struggle with this though, as I think (almost exclusively) politicians are corrupt, and the tax system is being abused...but I'm not sure we can do away with it all completely....

So you're saying we shoudl privatize everything? (Not criticising, just trying to understand...)

So we'd have a private military, and people would fund it if they felt it was worthwhile (for example)?

Or with electric vehicles, no government rebates or funding to add infrastructure, just funded if people buy the cars?

Got some homework to do...but never knew a) sites like that existed and b) it can get complicated! 😃
