yes i think the instinct to act as a herd is clearly inherent in humans generally - we evolved as tribes of maybe 50, and if they were all free thinkers they'd have been useless at hunting / fighting other tribes / fending off sabre tooth tigers..

(though it's also an advantage to have one or two independent thinkers - most of the time they'll be persecuted but all improvements are going to come from them, and the tribe that adopts them will win)

the "problem" comes when the herd is bigger and all the instincts for obedience, and their effects, get magnified

why german culture (and eg japanese?) has evolved to do this in a more extreme way its kind of meaningless to tell

Yes, the "never again" arguments are bullshit, because you are not allowed to compare any current event to Nazism, in any way - even to say "this looks like the kind of thing that happened at the start of Nazism, let's be sure we don't go down that path".

In fact the "lesson" of Nazism is used in the exactly the opposite way - to enforce greater authoritarianism. CJ Hopkins is a perfect example - convicted of promoting Nazism, literally for suggesting the German covid laws were authoritarian in a way that was similar to Nazism and mocking the German health minister.

All this tells me that the desire for authoritariansm is deeper than just one ideology - like Nazism or whatever you'd call the current insanity, which are just superficial manifestations. It says to me there is a strong prediliction in the German national psyche towards all working together, in a kind of insane super-committed roboherd that will follow its own logic absolutely and to the any extreme. Scary.

One of the greatest pleasures in my life, having been into bitcoin for quite a while, and also awake to the jabs etc, is to find that bitcoin has basically become the rallying point for the antivax / awake covid movement

The new global elite will literally be us antivaxx conspiracy theorists - because we are the ones connected to reality.

For me, it depends on if you think good will win over evil in the boss fight that, imo, is inevitable.

Because the globalists, or whatever you call them, are certainly not going to stop until they have total control of all speech and social/economic activity - CBDC basically does the trick. If bitcoin and nostr can stand up to that, then good will win. If not its eternal slavery for humanity, basically.

I think good will win and a great enlightenment will follow - so I want that to happen as soon as possible, in order to have the maximum years of life in freedom after.

The most convincing story I heard was that it was a guy called Dave Kleiman. He had the right creds and personality type etc. He was an associate of Craig Wright.

Kleiman died maybe 10 years ago.

So the story goes that Wright knew what Kleiman was doing, and also knew that his family had a USB with the keys to satoshi's bitcoin. And the whole bullshit pantomime he stirred up was actually to create a legal paper trail that would allow him one day to claim that USB.

Part of why I like the story is that it just does feel like satoshi is dead.

I dunno I think the guy may be right. Its a fact that many people will remain unwilling - through laziness, or lack of self confidence / esteem - to look after their bitcoin.

If you trust the govt to inject your kids with an experimental gene therapy that can do them no possible good, then trusting coinbase with your bitcoin is no big deal at all.

They will definitley lose those coins at some point - and deserve to - but until they do at least they may get some benefit from their custodian.

It's their choice, and I think we should respect that - though it seems insane to us. But if the last 5 years has taught me anything, it's that I shouldn't concern myself with the sheep - they have the same chances as me to connect to reality and who am I to tell them what to do.

a big part of me feels, tho, that this is great. that the solution to "bad speech", which you and I might think this is, isn't censorship, but allowing it to be fully explored and considered etc - ie "more speech", not censorship
