While the world may seem like it is on fire, people often don’t / won’t act until they feel like there are no other options. Revolutions work best when people have nothing left to lose.
Big tech’s hard lean into AI for surveillance and job replacement means many more people have reached a point where something new is possible.
I’m personally excited about the opportunities 2025 brings to decentralize technology ownership and by extension communication technology and media etc.
There is so much potential to make a much better future.

Relays provide the decentralization in Nostr. Instead of posting to a single server that is controlled ultimately by a single CEO, Nostr allows you to post to multiple relays (servers). So if one goes down or decides to remove your post, there are still other places for people to obtain your content.
The apps eg Primal, Amethyst etc communicate with all the relays to find the content of the people you follow in order to show it to you.
This is good feedback! Thanks!
What about apps that don’t offer micropayments or do all Nostr apps have them except Nos?

Experimented with a drawing app for photos. Works for landscapes, not so much for people.
🙄 This airline can’t even get you from point A to point B without delays and then spends $ to shame its customers. I already avoid them but this is even more incentive. https://apple.news/A9k9E6tw2To2CRE-OGKvgEg
Unfortunately the kids are on YouTube. It’s the Boomers and I guess Gen x’rs who are on Facebook.
One login, many apps.
Build your network once and access it across a multitude of apps. The Nostr protocol is the first to offer true portability.
Update the image to the right to show a bunch of Nostr app logos.
Subsection 1: 1 key pair gets you full access
Nostr uses public/ private key cryptography for login and identity management. This set of keys gives you access to any app on the network.
Sub-section 2: Own your social graph forever
Once you build your network it is tied to your key pair. It travels with you wherever you log in.
Sub section 3: Apps for almost anything
Text chat in the global town square or privately, stream, blog, share photos and much more. Link to Nostr.apps
Sub section 4: Build your own Nostr app
This field has tripped up a number of folks bc it is distinct on Primal and not on other apps, so if a user enters their website on Primal thinking it will populate across the network, they will find that it doesn’t.
Most protocols have standards, it would be helpful to get a baseline established for things like profile and kind 1 notes as well as links.
Good post on why it’s your writing and not your Substack. https://www.anildash.com//2024/11/19/dont-call-it-a-substack/

When is the “right” time to explain nostr to a newbie? Why?
1) before app install
2) during app install
3) after app install
4) never
5) other (kindly expand)

I would say it’s also about showing people the magic of Nostr rather than telling them. The magic being your social graph goes with you everywhere.
What are the use cases of encouraging people to download and install a second Nostr app?
If I am in Damus and I see an event from CoMingle that I want to RSVP to in comingle - what does that workflow look like and how do we make it simple for folks but also give them the ah ha moment?
I don’t have the exact answer but that is the path I would pursue based on onboarding people to Nos and then Primal for zaps. You could see the light bulb go off when they logged into Primal with their nsec that they created in Nos.
Interested in getting a FairPhone for testing on Android. Does anyone on Nostr have one they use with a Nostr client? https://shop.fairphone.com/fairphone-5
If so do you like it? Do you have any concerns?

I found some new accounts to follow that I was not aware of + excited to see one of the Nos Creators make the list!

Thanks so much for letting us know this. It’s something we pay attention to.
Extreme inequality leads to political instability. It’s nice to see other countries trying to take some action on this front. https://www.theguardian.com/news/2024/nov/18/be-brave-and-impose-minimum-tax-on-worlds-billionaires-urges-spanish-minister?CMP=Share_iOSApp_Other
Bluesky is an app that runs in on the AT protocol. Nostr is a protocol. People can’t go to an App Store and download Nostr.
The apps need to market themselves. Marketing the protocol simply gets you more developers.
There are other factors related to branding that are not helping Nostr, but starting with the apps instead of the protocol goes a long way.
It bothers me a lot to be here at nostr:npub18m76awca3y37hkvuneavuw6pjj4525fw90necxmadrvjg0sdy6qsngq955, writing something very significant and the application closes by itself and doesn’t save anything, from my imminent grade. This makes me lose interest in rewriting it, because it takes away my line of reasoning.
The same happens in nostr:npub12vkcxr0luzwp8e673v29eqjhrr7p9vqq8asav85swaepclllj09sylpugg! Already here, the basics of pulling the scroll to reread the note from the beginning - before sending, it is already the reason to close the note, returning to the feed; and nothing is saved (as in draft).

I would be curious to see if Nos.social works better for you. It’s still in TestFlight in most parts of the world but we’ve done a lot of work to improve the editor and prevent crashes in recent months.
