I live my life in accordance with the 4 Agreements: - be impeccable with your word - make no assumptions - take nothing personally - always do your best I'm a sovereign soul choosing unconditional love over fear. 💚

So each app has their own way of implementing 'boostagrams' on their own centralised servers?

As a podcaster wanting to connect with my listeners across multiple platforms, I'd need to be using several apps?

I admit that I do quite like the subtle little buzz my phone makes when I receive a tip.

I don't think I've really experienced that before.

It's a nice feeling.

I'll also admit that I've never had a spin on Fold.

I was thinking more along the lines of nostr needing Bitcoin.

Zaps are cool but they're not strictly required.

Permissionless digital money expand's nostr's usefulness, but it's not required.

We've been using encryption for decades & cryptographic key pairs are not unique to bitcoin or new.

Without Bitcoin uniting us & teaching us the value of freedom & responsibility, I'm not sure it could have emerged.

Is nostr not the purest form of free speech we have today?

Like bitcoin, this empowerment is not provided by laws or rulers.

It's enabled through code & people who share a desire to express themselve without needing permission.

I think nostr needed Bitcoin, but also doesn't need it.

I don't know what's changed but Nostrgram is so much more responsive for me today.

Nice & snappy.

It was near unusable 2 days ago taking 10+ secs to do even basic things. I was running off a VPN but never got blocked from it (it felt throttled).

Roughly the same time of day too.

Well done sir 🤙

100% I've zapped about 500k sats ($130) in the last 2 weeks via nostr mostly for Value for Value type services received outside of Nostr.

About 15k of that was for pods that I recently consumed either to the pod caster or the guest (I didn't send shit to Marty BTW 😂).

Nostr allows me to easily & anonymously 'even the score' from people I've not easily been able to remunerate previously. Reciprocity is in our DNA but those giving don't necessarily feel comfortable taking payment. I've enjoyed doing it & this is the first time I've even mentioned that I've done it. I even opened a 5m sat channel from my node to WoS to make this all easier in the future.

Next step is acquiring some more non KYC sats before I drain the outbound liquidity on my node.

Yeah that's where you want to use Nostrgram.co

Download the https://getalby.com/ browser extension so that you can manage your private key securely.

You then want to go to your profile and click the little green button. Find the point where you follows got blasted and restore them from a time beforehand.

It's funny - when i figured out where the boost messages worked in podcasting 2.0, I thought that this is how 'pay to say' social media might look.

10 sats min to record your comment or like. More if you want it prioritised. It wasn't a great user experience with that lens on (love the pods element). It can be a while between opening fountain for me.

I'm now less inclined to boost/comment on pods directly within the pod casting platform & more inclined to zap within Nostr for the pod. I don't know why - nostr feels more personable to me.

Just some observations.

Nostr is living rent (or twattercoin) free on his platform

😂

I think quote noting under an existing note is problematic in Amethyst.

The rendered results are unexpected for me 😂

I'm glad they look ok in your client though.

#[7] - not sure you're aware of this glitch

I copy the note ID, type out my note & on a new line stick an @ symbol and then paste in the note ID.

Each client will render this slightly differently, but it seems pretty solid:

I don't think it will be an issue if you don't use the global feed.

Nostr is a different paradigm in social media.

To achieve a similar result in Twatter I created multiple lists to try & get all the tweits from the people i wanted to hear from.

This is the default on Nostr but migrating is like going from a pub straight into a library. There's no need to yell anymore, we can all hear you just fine.

As new users come across, you can see the way they slowly shift their behaviours. It's so easy to avoid people on here that it compels people to adjust their behaviour quickly.

I feel like the straight boosting of a root note is a bit of a faux pas. This is especially true when the note is big/long or if the noter is well followed (eg Odell, Jack, Gigi).

The clear exceptions I can see (there may be more - context is key):

- an old, forgotten note that you think is relevant

- a reply note that has value on it's own (without context)

- a new verified Nostr user that doesn't have a following yet

- if you're going to add some context agree or diagree (quote note)

You can do it, but if you keep cluttering my feed, I'll eventually either quietly unfollow you or mute you. I'm pretty tolerant & it would take a lot for me to get to that point, but we all have a line. We've also all probably done it & there are no take backs here.

There will be a bit of an eternal September as Nostr goes parabolic & we create our unique culture.
