💯 has anyone actually figured out how to properly build a typescript library so it works with cjs and esm? I hold the controversial opinion that javascript was actually fine before es6.

Yeah, absolutely agreed. I'm honestly not even sure "social media" as we understand it is redeemable, but I'm going to try. I do think digital marketplaces, chat groups, and other things on a smaller scale are more obviously beneficial to society.

I don't like all the depressing conversations going around right now about nostr's future. Yes, we should market, and we have to do better, but this is a ten year project, don't get too worked up about it failing already.

As it happens, I just finished talking about this on the TGFN podcast, we'll have a book review episode out in a week or two on The Shallows, and what the internet is doing to our brains. Tiktok is distraction and mind control technology and erodes our individual sovereignty and memory. Part of this comes from its algorithms, part from the design.

I don't think short form video content is inherently bad (I for example really like Marco Polo), I'd be very interested to see what people can do by re-building it on nostr. I'm just probably not the person to do so.

> nostr growth and clients shouldn’t be made only to bring people we agree with or like, it’s for everyone.

Yes they should, and yes it is. This is a really interesting point (and well put). I personally build for the people I'm interested in helping. I'm not interested in a tiktok use case, because I think it's not a good technology. But I really don't mind if someone builds it because they do believe in it, especially if it brings more people to nostr.

Annotations would be impossible to show as an edit. So either you have the old note, or the old note + context. Editable notes would just get shown unless the client bothers to build an edit history feature, which they probably would not do.

Super good point. Maybe he was trying to fund revolutionary activities with it or something. But I agree the traditional reading is more compelling.

The best article I have ever read on social media:

I'm interviewing the author on TGFN tomorrow.

Maybe this is what kills nostr. Everyone knows they benefit from everyone else's marketing efforts, so no one invests in marketing.
