Fiat Ruins Patronage

Every rich person in a fiat economy is obsessed with money. Not inventions, not art, not new frontier exploration, but money.

These are the people that in a sound money economy would be funding inventors, artists and explorers to create and conquer. They don't because they are forced to run on a monetary treadmill.

These are the people that used to devote their leisure not to hedonism, but to the finer things that build civilization. They knew something about inventing, art and exploring because that's what interested them. And they knew at some level that they didn't have the talent to go that far. But they *could* recognize talent in those areas and funded the people that had the potential to make inventions, create art and explore further than they could. So they would put their money where their heart was.

This is the real model of patronage, of funding real progress. Instead, we have rich people giving money to charitable causes that are better at throwing parties than at helping people. Fiat money has ruined the engine that has built civilization.

I prefer my vegetables preprocessed by a 1.5 ton 4-stage roaming bioreactor and packed into nutrient dense proteins and fats, also known as grazing bovine.

What chance does someone who is disabled have in a conflict with a strong able bodied attacker?

In most situations the stronger person will win. Except when guns are involved. Guns are equalizers. A young girl who is all alone with her gun or a person in a wheelchair with a gun can be just as deadly as any man with a gun. Beyond having the ability to aim & pull the trigger, muscles don't matter.

What people like you support is disarming the weak. It appears (to any sane person) that you prefer to help the criminals. You want people to be terrorized & raped & stolen from.

Criminals don't obey laws. Any idiot can see that. And there are many ways to illegally acquire a gun. It's also quite easy to 3d print them or to make one from materials readily available at any hardware store.

When you support a law that disarms people, you are creating an environment in which only criminals have guns. And good people are in much weaker positions against attackers of all kinds. People who advocate "gun control" are making the world a scarier & more dangerous place for good people.

There are some shitcoiners who are real salty pieces of shit over #Lightning.

It works. It's decentralized. It has made #Bitcoin transactions instant & more privacy friendly. It has improved the ability to scale #Bitcoin by like 100x. You can move seemlessly between wallets prioritizing soverignty or convenience. It is being used to improve access to sidechains & other scaling solutions. It's a huge win! And it makes their shitcoins completely irrelevant.

Splicing is coming to multiple LSPs & will eventually be the default. That is going to make Lightning's onchain footprint much smaller & more efficient, so get ready for "Lightning is failing" FUD as data may show the number of channels declining (since channel sizes can be edited). Though maybe usage will grow enough in the process (thanks to UX improvments & the coming bull market) that there won't be much to point to. Either way, interesting times & interesting developments 😊

I am considering enabling Amethyst to write a replaceable kind 1 (new kind:30111) to allow users to edit their past posts at will.

It would work in a similar way Habla News works, but using Kind 1's style of small posts instead of markdown and long-form content of kind:30023.

Of course, we could also write kind:30023 (blog posts) directly, but it would pollute most of the Blogging interfaces with short posts.

Just one extra step. A "notes/edits from the author" section on a note would be added to the note as a comment with certain formatting, and the client will either display as a regular comment, add to the note displayed in its own area, or evaluate the revision as a find-replace or regex with the option to display the original.
