True. Culture is downstream of policy, and the law is a teacher. Maybe first making it illegal to distribute to minors with life-altering fines on it is a start, up the age to 21, then to anyone. But it still begs the question: "what is pornography?"
"Media intended to sexuality arouse the consumer" is a little broad, especially because of that word "intended".
It's not enough to slow or stop inflation. It needs to be reversed. Why can't those people see that? Damage is done in the positive, and it doesn't get fixed if it doesn't go into the negatives.
I think it is reprehensible and ought to be made illegal, but I don't want the current government to determine what is and is not pornography.
The Cistine Chapel mustn't be, but Cardi B music videos should be, and I don't think our culture knows why.
And it's nothing new either. Theft by money changing and minting is at least a old as the middle ages. They're just faster at it with modern techniques.
NLA: Nostr Login Apps?
Liwn apps: Login-with-Nostr apps?
L-07 apps: Login with NIP07?
These will have a continuous use case with potentially 100% private login management, and the website doesn't need any info to manage access.
I've been thinking about how one would integrate this into WordPress. I think it's possible with a pseudo email address (npub....@nip07.nostr) in users table.
I'm pretty versed with WordPress and could totally build this plugin. Who'd use it other than me?
Private economics used to be so simple, and we used to know and rely on neighbors. What happened to our culture? (Fiat is a symptom of the culture)

I've been putting off opening up new channels after I had to rebuild my node (playing around on mainnet is not my best idea), but I might do so if I want to try out batch opens now!

Khalid Mashal the leader and founding member of Hamas gave a speech today asking Muslims all around the world to do the following:
1. To show anger, especially next Friday, in Muslim countries and Also among Muslim diaspora around the world; he called it “the Friday of Al-Aqsa flood”, he said this will send a message of rage to Zionists and to America
2. He asked for financial help from all Muslims around the world; to help with their money, he called it “Financial Jihad”. He asked Muslims to give to the fighters of Gaza in order to compensate them for the destruction
3. He asked political pressure, from Muslim leaders and Muslim nations, to stop Israel’s military invasion of Gaza
4. The most important thing: He asked all Muslims around the world to carry Jihad by their souls; to fight and be martyrs for Al-Aqsa. He wants Muslims to fight against the Jews, starting with Muslims who live in the countries surrounding Israel: Jordan, Syria, Lebanon, and Egypt (but also other countries), to go to the borders and try to enter, each by his own means.
He said: This is the time for Jihad to be applied on the ground rather than just in theory. He asked the Mujahedeen to go in long caravans to spell their blood on the land of Palestine.
These are his final words: Funds are important but today we are asking for your blood and souls [to be sacrificed for Palestine]

What *should* retirement look like for two public school teachers?
I agree that the self-custody onramp for Lightning is fairly advanced, too advanced for a newbie and definitely too much for grandma, which is partly due to it's early stage. To achieve self-custody for every average Joe and his grandma will be too much to ask with the existing paradigm. Instead, rollups are going to be necessary if automated/simplified LN nodes don't become dead simple.
As I said in another comment of mine on this thread, I would highly prefer a Bitcoin native solution over an "adapted" one. Whether BitVM is indeed that solution has yet to be seen, but I can be hopeful.
Sounds cool, but Bitcoin doesn't actually have any zk-rollups yet. That link says that two Eth/altcoin projects want to offer their solution to Bitcoin too.
Sovereign SDK: "As mentioned previously, Chainway’s DA adapter aims to make it easier to connect applications built with the Sovereign SDK to Bitcoin. In other words, the adapter lets Sovereign rollups leverage Bitcoin as their DA layer, something that wasn’t possible before."
Starknet: "Now, Kasar Labs and Taproot Wizards have launched a DA adapter for Bitcoin that seeks to allow developers to anchor rollups built with an open source version of Starknet to the original and most secure cryptocurrency network."
Cool, I'm all for competition so we can find the best solution, but this is no reason to oppose BitVM. Additionally, I would personally prefer a Bitcoin native solution, not a solution 'adapted' to Bitcoin.
Lightning (L2) scales transactions really well, but not users. Every self-custodial user of lightning needs his own channel(s). The idea behind virtual addresses under L1 addresses is to scale users too. Being able to prove virtual address balances with a BitVM rollup will allow a single transaction on L1 to represent a thousand transactions on L1.5, including channel opens/closes between L1.5 addresses.
That is a amazing idea! Let's petition congress.

Excite about the implications of the BitVM 🤙 I need to read the white paper more, but the really big implication for me is the potential for (zk?) rollups and Merkle tree address balance proofs which will allow Bitcoin and Lightning to scale.
I can imagine a few million top-level addresses, which are actually the aggregate of a tens of thousands of virtual addresses each. All a user needs to transact is his keys and his Merkle branch proof of funds.
I am pretty excited about the potential for this idea, and I need to put more thought into it before I can commit to it.

I was about to write a book of a reply 😂 I think I'll write my own post about it
