How do we call "Nostr" apps that just login with Nostr but save everything the user creates in their own centralized database instead of our relays? 🤔

Nauth Apps
Good question
Not everything should be on relays. Only data you want public
Aren't you the same Ben the Carman than is making a whole Wallet API extension to transfer a lot of very sensitive wallet information via a Nostr relay? I am confused.
It's encrypted
I know. That's generally how people put private information on relays. Relays are not only for public data.
And don't forget private relays.
What’s the difference between a local private relay and a local database?
A database in a server doesn't store signed events and can be changed by the server at any time.
Users that use private relays are generally the controllers of such relays and or have ways to decide which apps get access to them and how to move the data to another private server.
It's about allowing the user to decentralize from that specific app by simply moving events between relays.
Not even private relays? Shouldn’t you be responsible and have both?
I don't think many people run private relays
I’m not sure why not , I use it to create a VPN so I can load all my music , , couple 100 gigs , and still not done loading my photos into All sorts of apps like woogle , llama gpt and what not , sure you can use one for your banking but dang , instant access on all your devices from anywhere to all your stuff is hard to beat,,, #nostr fixed so many things for me so fast and it keep on

sovstr : sovereign nostr
Keeping certain user data off-relay allows for a crude form of key rotation. Importing reputation and experience to a nostr key (like GitHub through verified gists) protects a user from needing to start from 0.
Larpstr
Spookstr
There are extremes on both ends, your example is one side the other is using public relays as personal storage for everything
Off-topic, but thoughts on an icon rebrand for Nostur using an elegant AI-gen'd ostrich?

Its my hope that many many many existing web applications start their integration with nostr in this way to drop the need for email or sms based logins.
NLA: Nostr Login Apps?
Liwn apps: Login-with-Nostr apps?
L-07 apps: Login with NIP07?
These will have a continuous use case with potentially 100% private login management, and the website doesn't need any info to manage access.
I've been thinking about how one would integrate this into WordPress. I think it's possible with a pseudo email address (npub....@nip07.nostr) in users table.
I'm pretty versed with WordPress and could totally build this plugin. Who'd use it other than me?
Much hate here but I love when I can use my nostr extension to SSO. It better work on mobile, too though, which so far is a bit lacking. But then you can bring your profile and people can follow you on nostr ... why not?
I think we just need to praise apps that trully go for the Nostr spirit and store everything on relays, which allows for any competing apps to "steal" their user. Apps that only go half way into Nostr in order to keep control over the user are less desirable. But they can still exist.
What about video and large files, bittorrent may fit better for this case. Nostr event for the meta data?
DBZ??
NINOs
Notstr? Lol
nAuthtr?
That's is the beauty of Nostr protocol. It adjusts to everyone's needs 🤣
What do you mean login with Nostr?
Do you mean authenticate with your Nostr nsec? This would be cryptographic authentication.
Interesting questionb though. I think degree to which the app uses/adhears to NIPS defined in the protocol matters more than how/if the events are transmitted.
