The suicide of the west is instigated by a desire to feel good about oneself by "caring". Caring about "the environment", or foreigners, or ethnic minorities, or women, or people with perverse sexual desires and behaviors. It's all contributing to the demise or our culture, in part because those who occupy that end of the political spectrum just need to appear like they care while they don't actually. Otherwise, their issues should be getting better, not worse.
Indeed. The hyperempathic response has made half of the current western political spectrum asinine and self-defeating. The current all-are-welcome attitude with no discernment is causing our societal suicide.
