I hope and don't think I sounded like I was bullying, not my intention at all. I believe there are good intentions behind this. I'm in favour of reducing spam, and users to mute/block. But conflating it all under 'spam', even difference of opinion for someone else is odd
Are adopted block lists a thing on all apps or just Amethyst? #[1] #[2] #[3] ? Amethyst is nice to use, but totally unwanted feature for me personally

If 5+ accounts I follow want to mute a user (which is fair enough) I will automatically adopt this and can only see the content if click reveal or I follow the 'spammer'? Quite confusing as nostr is populated with real spam so I would naturally assume it's some spam bot and not just some user people don't like. 'Spammer' as you mention here being a v v extended definition and goes beyond what I and I assume many people, would usually think of. Anyway it's a slick app, but I'm not really down with this feature ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Wtf is a chair???????????

Nice and simply put.
I get that but I'm thinking of scenarios where you just don't fancy seeing certain content. It's not the person bugging you. Like specific content accounts. Eg an account specifically posts about eg Lego, and another user has no interest in Lego. They're not harassing or inappropriate or spam, this user might want to just mute this account. Maybe I'm misundersating (very likely)....?
Ha yes. Ho hum. There is some sort of 'request deletion' option but I don't really understand how that works. Doesn't matter anyway ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ I am cringe, but I am free
Anyway

Nostr noob thoughts & impressions:

(I don't expect anyone to care, nor do I think I have any audience for these thoughts lol).
It's impressive and addictive. What makes it more than a impressive bitcoin telegram group? Personally would like to see a wider variety of content and people. I assume and hope it'll move beyond the self-referential posts eg about zaps;) these things always do.
The zap function is a purple/orange pill, and if you have an interesting social network people are gravitating towards they will naturally seek out more info about this.
Isn't having a block /report user function rather than mute user (I'm using amethyst mostly) creating a shadowban list by another name - when it's applied to non-spam users? Wouldn't it be better not to blacklist actual users.
Anyway I'll stop writing. I barely know anything about this. Might delete anyway lol:)
I joined nostr to see if it would eventually turn into something other than a more complicated bitcoin telegram group. It is possible. It needs a wider variety of people and posts to be of any interest beyond this. Initial noob impression at least

This happened to me at #nostrica. She had dirty feet. Help me find her 🥺
NostriGoa 2024 amphetamine-fueled full moon dance hackathon. Just throwing out ideas #[2]
This is something I've noticed, there is no Mute function, which would be much better.. All forms of muting is done through a report of spam/inappropriate, which seems to add a user to a universal block list. Seems p unfair #[5]
