Yay! I think these will make it easier to onboard friends and such :) or at least it’ll give them a reason to join if they want to leave us comments 🤔
Awesome! can’t wait 😊
in damus for example, copy the note id
then paste it and remove the “https://damus.io/%E2%80%9D and add @ at the start so it begins “@nevent”
Thank you! Hard to find this answer using google 🤣

As everyone around here says, “we’re early”.
If you play a little mental gymnastics, they’re not launching fireworks, they’re burning their fiat.
Alright one tutorial is up, will add the next relevant one tomorrow. Get ready to see a 12 year younger me 🤣
Yep! The videos where I post the flourishy tricks are done with one of the yo-yos I had made named the Mori, it has a dry ball bearing in it that can spin a long time and the model was designed with long spinning complicated trick combinations in mind :)
These days there are yo-yos made that will not come back to your hand when you tug on the string. They’re called unresponsive yo-yos and they require a trick called a bind to make them wind back up. Those sorts of yo-yos would spin the longest. But it’s kind of a skill thing, if a beginner uses one they may get a longer spin than on a raider say 30-60 seconds instead of 10-20, but if an expert throws one they can get 5-7minutes of spin time out of it. It’s determined by how hard you throw it, how well you maintain its tilt so that the inner walls of the yo-yo don’t rub on the string and slow it down, and the maintenance of the bearing/response system inside. It can be rather complex but with practice I think most folks could figure it out and have a rather impressive sleeper 😊
We’ve been too busy listening to you read a book to like and reply. Sorry 😞
It’s quite fun to do, I agree :) did you ever do dizzy baby? You pinch the top of the triangle and swing the yo-yo all the way around, over the top and through the triangle :)
Yea I think they retailed for $15-$20… the prices can be rather wild, some yo-yos these days are made out of titanium and go up to $400usd. I had a few made out of aluminum in the past couple years that I sold between $40 and $60, and some wooden ones that I sold for $20. For the most part the prices seem to be dictated by the branding because imo, most of the modern yo-yos I’ve come across all play about the same 😅
I would say look for a Duncan butterfly xt. It has a ball bearing in it so it can spin for a long time compared to their traditional butterfly but also comes back to your hand with a tug easily. Once you have mastered the basic tricks you could try out some more advanced yo-yos (there are nearly endless options these days) but for starting out, I would recommend sticking to a basic budget yo-yo, just to get the fundamentals down. :) Ty for asking!
That’s awesome! I love the raider! It’s a great looping yo-yo and it comes with a ball bearing so it spins forever compared to the budget one I used in this video :) I used to have quite a few of them but eventually sold mine because I stopped focusing so much on looping tricks. Any chance yours was a McDonald’s one? I remember a lot of kids got those from there back when the last yo-yo boom happened :)
This is Intro to Yo-Yoing, a lesson covering the absolute basics of the hobby. It covers the types of starter budget yo-yos you might find at your local dollar store (some grocery stores sell them too), adjust string length for your (or a child’s) height, how to attach the yo-yo to your hand, how to wind it up, and finally to how to hold and throw it properly. This video should give you a firm foundation to build off of to beginning learning tricks, as until you master the basics, everything after will be difficult. Once you’ve got this down, the rest will come to you more naturally.

If you go to your Damus wallet settings will it let you select the option to be prompted to choose your wallet? I had to do that to fix a similar issue.
