Couldn't agree more. Even if you encountr someone that doesn't do this - the conversation might be a good reminder for yourself, to stay on track; and a few more of those, might inspire the other, to start changing tracks.
But what am I saying?
Maybe I'm on the wrong track ;)
Thanks for sharing this; It's so fascinating:
> alert the surrounding plants to potential dangers, or attract helpful insects to perform needed services
Can you imagine? Wow!
They can literally teach us something.
We can't even get along with our human-neighbors...
That's a nice way to put it.
I mean, when I compare an animal to a plan, the primary difference is that the plant "moves" much slower; My little bird without water, or in the cold, will face problems sooner than the tree that's growing beside him - but either would die, without attention.
If the plant is communicating, I simply can't hear or see it; But plants constantly change their "aura" depending on time of day, or the condition their in.
That's powerful stuff.
Mostly unexplored it seems.
Apparently grass "knows" from nearby grass, when it's about to be cut.
I didn't know about Soapbox. Cool!
I suppose negative comments, are good comments too ;)
It's not what you bought; it's what others like you bought.
What I don't get about vegetarians, that eat plants for the sake of animal welfare - what about plant welfare? We understand next to nothing about plants, and based on the lack of knowledge, we've come to decide, that it's better to kill plants, because they are less relatable?
I suppose that's the child in them.
My way, or no way.
Totally agree with you.
That's like everyone these days.
Too scared to inspect their own believes.
So you're proposing, that we blindly follow all new people?
Don't see how that's reasonable.
If someone doesn't have anything to say, and is not interesting enought to collect some follows, that's not a protocol or Nostr problem.
I don't get this comment. Connecting to the relay, setting up a subscription, and receiving data takes ~1s. Sounds like a client problem.
If you haven't tried #Nostr #NostrOS web client, give it a shot. It's not yet feature complete, but it's becoming a lot more usable. Tomorrow I'll add contact lists (so following can sync optionally).

that's it for me today
cheers to all the #nostrs
Videos will be disabled by default.

New update coming for NostrOS tonigh:
- Much smoother scrolling
- Improved offline support
- Reduce data usage
- "New events" that works

Ease of tracking by platform
- Twitter: Easy
- Mastodon: Easier
- Nostr: Couldn't be easier
It's funny how easy it is, to track people on Nostr.
- Images like avatars can come from virtually anywhere
- Videos on YouTube and so on
all that, without actually "interacting" with the Nostr protocol, or indexing Nostr posts (which reveal much less Metadata themselves).
So much like you could embed a tracker on your website, or email, your profile avatar could keep track of, how many times your profile has been viewed (and by whom, where). Yes, VPNs but metadata fingerprints are quite unique, even behind a random VPN IP.
If you've been here for a while, and have created a lot of notes, remember that relays will delete old notes.
To keep them, use my Backup service to download copy of them, you will be able to restore them later, it also updates your notes everywhere.

This is pretty cool. I'd love to automate this, and integrate it client-side. The user could hook-up something like IPFS, Syncthing or S3 - or pay for a subscription, not to worry about it.
Just one point though - I'm not sure how it is in the US, but new building regulations can increase the cost of a house, too. In the 80s, people suffocated on their wood-fired stove, asbestos in the walls, and draft in winter.
Windows alone, we've gone from wood with 6mm glas, to something like 4-layer glazing and thermally broken profile. That stuff is not cheap.
New NostrOS client just went live with massive performance improvements, embedded videos, image slideshows, proper pagination, popular users and more.
It's a big re-write; will polish more tomorrow.

Ugh, the onboarding experience is still a bit trashy. Once you've got a good set of data (half an hour browsing), everything makes more sense.
