Used to work there, in fact. But okay, if you know better ;)
I'm weird as fuck. Nice to meet you.
I'm familiar; Lived most of my life in countries with heavy censorship ...
So you're saying, when we don't like something, we should leave? I know plenty of people in Iran, that stay and fight - I hope they don't follow your example then, because the ones that remain, will be worse off.
Nobody here is "wrong"; Not at all. Everybody can, and should do whatever they please; I'm just pointing out, that the soup's not very attractive right now, and the stats back that up.
And yeah, you're totally right.
I'm not exacty contributing other content either.
I will try to, definitely!
Hashtags are really the best way to break out; You're right
I'm sure less privileged people, couldn't care less about how Bitcoin fixes everything. When you've got a $100 to feed family and pay rent, Nostr is your least worry, and 99% of content here useless.
Well, I don't trally trust anything online, or VPN's so we're on the same page.
I guess Nostr might feel a little too open? Too easy to track relations? I mean, if they find that key, or the pub of someone else on you, it's easy for them to follow-up / threaten you.
My homepage is "global"; It doesn't make a big difference.
This is the vast majority of content; And that content is getting amplified.
Sure, when I go to a football club, to watch and play football, that's fun and what I expect; But right now, that's what Nostr is. Just a football club, for football fans.
It's simply the only thing going on here; that's the problem.
Like VPN's for example. Probably X-times more users in Iran, than the average country; Sure part is censorship, but part is that they prefer the US government tracking them, over their own.
I've always had the impression it's easier in Iran versus other countries, because Iranians are much more aware of their situation, than say ... most people from western countries.
What difficulties are you facing?
I'd assume that virtually no relays are blocked.
Yes, it always makes sense to consolidate.
May I suggest to "consolidate" on Amazon or Google instead?
They offer an even broader set of services, to "consolidate".
Bitcoin fixes everything.
Nostr fixes this.
Here's a link to a podcast about how Bitcoin fixes everything.
Here's bitcoin news.
Did you know, that Bitcoin fixes everything?
Twitter sucks. Nostr fixes this.
Gm Nostr.
Gn nostr.
Bitcoin, Nostr, Bitcon, Nostr.
Nostr Nostr Nostr Nostr.
Are you still with me?
I think I've been part of enough male-dominated cmmunities in my life to say that they'll do just fine without woman to "keep up a constant chatter". But yea - that's exactly it - I'm on Nostr, to get a slice of the world. Kinda stay on top of what's going on; Get other people's input; Read about what they are up to.
Here it's just Nostr, Nostr, Nostr, Bitcoin, Nostr.
Who cares? I mean really? If that's your life, I'm kinda sorry.
So all of it. We need more woman. More man. More or whatever's in between, above or below. It's just so goddamn boring around here.
One should really keep in mind, how non-techies see the world. I've once seen a statistic that most people wouldn't be able to tell you what they use to access the internet. They just use what's there - the icon that's familiar.
Not sure how this has shifted over the years, but it doesn't mean that these people are stupid; They may have in-depth knowledge in other fields, which they like to share with others.
It's certainly easier to jump on Twitter to share, than to find the right Mastodon server, or figure out which app to use to access Nostr. Twitter is Twitter - on iOS, Android, the Web. Yes, that's a disadvantage, but it's also a tremendous advantage.
Maybe food for thought: One thing that Mastodon has going over Nostr, is branding. I mean, unless you want to "dive" into the third party ecosystem, Mastodon looks pretty much the same, wherever you access it - it's always the Mastodon web client - that's how you can recognize it easily.
On Nostr, many clients feel like seperate entities. Someone may be on Primal, another Iris, another Damus - Seems like these are seperate entities.
When you ask, are you on Mastodon?
It's a clear, yes or no.
Are you on Damus?
What is Damus even?
Oh, it's Nostr. Is this, like the internet?
I still think there's no good solution here; I wonder what's more mental overhead for users: Mastodon with multiple servers, or Nostr, with keys and relays.
