Kanaka and I sold 77.77% of the mushrooms that I brought to the Theodosia farmer's market.

It's been a good day so far. I made quite a few contacts, got one business to sign up and explore nostr, and had a really good pulled pork sandwich from a local food truck.

I even got 2 free peach trees and an aloe vera plant from the local gardener's club

.

Also for the first time Kanaka didn't get carsick on the way there or back. 🐕

I just converted about $35 in Bat to BTC using uphold day before yesterday.

When I tried to move it off their exchange the fee was over $8

So I'm patiently waiting for BTC fees to calm back down.

I'm just learning, so I feel I need to hone my skills more before I start selling online.

Eventually I'll get there.

I made 9 mushrooms 🍄 in 2 days.

I'm finally starting to get the hang of wood turning.

If I keep practicing I should be able to crank one out every 15-20 min or so.

Once I've made 2 dozen of them I'm going to switch to something else.

My goal is to sell things at the local farmer's market once a month.

Any ideas for cool easy things to make that will sell well?

While I do best to not eat fries anymore, what I used to do was tear off a corner of the packet, put a fry in my mouth then suck out a little ketchup.

That way there's less chance of making a mess.

My Uncle Tracy taught me this trick when I was a kid.

Today I'm making wooden mushrooms 🍄 to sell at the local farmer's market. 👨‍🌾

I'm a total amateur wood turner so I figure a mushroom is the perfect learner project, after all no two mushrooms are alike. 🙂

Plus I'm making shavings that I plan to use as mulch and our bedding.

I know cedar is bad for animal bedding but can it be used for garden mulch?

I was thinking that if you took some old logs. Scratched them up a bit with a chainsaw and buried them halfway with fresh mushroom compost.

Then kept it in a moist, shady area. Residual mycelium may colonize your logs and fruit eventually.

It would be easy to try, the hardest part would be keeping them at the right moisture level without automation.

One great benefit of having a mushroom facility nearby; in addition to cheap compost their spent logs aren't always completely spent. 🙂🍄
