I've played around with OpenWRT but now for a new location I just bought a GL inet flint 2. I can update you after I set it up. They come with open wrt built in and they also produce travel routers that I might try in the future.

Familiar with him, but not his phone or iode OS. It seems to be a cheap Chinese phone with the firmware flashed. The specs seem decent except for the price but I have no idea about the SoC.

I'd recommend just getting a Google pixel and putting grapheneOS on it. Probably much better security and its much more reputable than iodeOS. If you don't want to spend the full price buy a used one for very cheap.

Social interactions are a developing meta changing over time. The book is almost a century old and it shows. It might have been novel at the time but it's been digested and overused by now. At this point by following what it says it just teaches you to speak like a customer service rep at a airline. A nice face with no actual emotion and people can tell there's no concern for them despite the facade.

I hate that book and it has been outdated for decades. It should not be followed in 2024. It's fascinating to read as a historical work though because you find the origins of all of corporate culture today, mostly the worst parts

If it's an exclusive choice, then for sure, but usually if you have contents you have the metadata too.

Interesting idea, but maybe it's too specific to be its own niche. If we just have a markup syntax for non-embedded tweet links, it would achieve the same purpose while being much more generally useful

Its stupid as hell to have a field for this. Like what's next? Height, weight, dick size, CS2 rank? Its just a string anyway. Why not have users write it in bio?

That being said, a part of me likes it BC the possibilities for showing everyone what they want to hear is endless. A dev could get best of both worlds by only showing pronouns for users who themselves set pronouns (if they want to maximise sanity). Or they could do the opposite to maximise outrage and engagement.

We need to figure a way to onboard new communities to nostr. IMO the main target should be self contained communities that are networked together well enough to move as a whole. I recently saw a thread on r/selfhosted about moving to a different platform. Nostr was barely mentioned and it was mainly dismissed due to the moderated communities NIP being "a clusterfuck". To be honest, reading through the NIP, I thought the same and it sounds like a PITA to implement to any working degree.

These guys should be the easiest in the world to get on nostr outside of bitcoin. Most of them would probably run their own relay. I think that with some outreach we could probably get them to try it but it needs to actually work.

On another note, I think the main way to onboard many users would be to make specialized niche apps that use common note kinds under the hood. Set up so that they have their own experience in their new hipster app, but all the content is visible on any other client like a one way mirror. Similar to how subreddits are all their own closed communities but reddit steals their top content to make a global feed for its new users.

This way we can onboard communities by selling them a hub for their niche, but use their content to diversify the scene that users see when downloading a normal client because right now it's all a bitcoin circle-jerk.

To be fair, they are done sloppily enough that conspiracy theorists can piece together the lie. Some of the things we know are true would be much better covered up by a private actor. Imagine all the things corps get away with that we never find out about. We don't know all the conspiracies that they executed and hid competently.

A download progress bar in app or in a notification would stop me from pressing it 3 times wondering if the button worked.

Bring your own model seems interesting but I haven't tried it yet.

I like brave search but you can change if you want.

Manage search engine >

You can change or add search engines and using them by typing the prefix + space in the address bar. This is so great that I wouldn't use any browser without it. I like changing shortcuts to use dot Instead of colon. Add YouTube for sure. Being able to type just .yt and immediately search from the address bar without first opening youtube .com is insane.

You can add ublock origin manifest V2 even after Google removes it from the store from here.

When you do all of these it simultaneously becomes the and most minimalist and most efficient browser out of everything I've tried. Its only missing the right click gestures of Opera but I haven't seen any other browser with that feature and opera is garbage in other ways.

If you do the stuff I said it will look like this:

Did you take time to hide all the BS? Once you do that it becomes cleaner than firefox
