I have the feeling this video will be taken down swiftly for mentioning the d-word (π) so Iβm putting it here for posterity and so that folks know whatβs actually happening in East TN / West NCβ¦ https://video.nostr.build/57f5ab21ab06ced44df47126e9991bef4196e22c15c7cb2cd73c99e6f4f457fe.mp4
I've said it before and I'll say it again, right or wrong, some people are paid to solve problems, and others are paid to merely acknowledge problems, and apparently it's no politicians job to actually solve problems.
I used to have a job checking people into a campground. People would occasionally point to the "mountain lion country" sign and ask what to do if they saw one. I'd tell them that if they saw a mountain lion then it wasn't hunting them so they had nothing to worry about. No one ever seemed reassured.
Which is exactly what people are on both sides say π
To me, conversations about population collapse and climate change always sound fairly similar, as a result, I take them similarly seriously. Make of that what you wish. π
Some people are paid to solve problems. Other people are paid to merely acknowledge them.
Meta has decided that users have been posting too much AI generated slop content and their solution is pretty unique. Not something I thought theyβd do. Theyβre going to start posting their own AI generated content in your feed remixing everything theyβve seen you post.
How about pictures and videos of fishing trips with your friends that you never took? Who cares if you actually got tickets to the NBA final because Meta will generate content showing you court side!
This is worse than them spending billions on a leg less VR world.

I thought we were supposed to be against deep fakes.
Most of my little community has wood stoves and or runs saws professionally, so I may have unrealistic expectations for how quickly and efficiently a tree like that will turn into nicely stacked wood piles π
How many hillbillies does it take to clear one downed tree? π
What I think is a tragedy is the degree to which most people seemingly never stop, reflect, consider, question, learn, grow, savor, enjoy, strive, ...
Because here, the only thing people expect you to say is what you honestly think.
Systems built on lies and falsehoods are innately fragile.
Nothing good comes from fragile systems.
Wooow, I've been more looking forward to when my exceptionally active friends slow down enough to play some board games, but that's really good too π
Kind of looks like a waste to me, but maybe such things are just wasted on me. Perhaps I'm just a savage π

That the levels of self assuredness that we embrace are warranted and justifiably.
