This video by Swan just a month ago is still pretty good regardless of the bitcoin conference and the speeches the presidential candidates gave. https://youtu.be/fEqQHXwPoZM
Ya the likelihood that you're right is pretty high. Silly, to be honest. A lot of people have been saying that the Bitcoin conference hosted by Bitcoin Magazine has been declining recently. I mean, god they posted articles in support of ordinals, inscriptions, runes, and whatever that karma scam was. 😕
Certainly both. The proposal is interesting and you might also be asking the right questions there.
Just watched this teaser for the upcoming Doctor Who Christmas special. Looks like a classic Steven Moffat scene. I really enjoyed Boom from the latest season and I'm excited that RTD and Moffat have been writing for the show again. I thought that Ncuti Gatwa's first season as the Doctor was fun, different, and fairly low stakes. At least that's how the vibes felt.
I feel like Doctor Who has been quite political with it's recent season and I feel like it was a risky play for it to be so. Regardless, I've enjoyed the show quite a bit and this last season was certainly a return to form. Looking forward to more Doctor Who!
We all need to be very aware that what nostr:npub1sn0wdenkukak0d9dfczzeacvhkrgz92ak56egt7vdgzn8pv2wfqqhrjdv9 is describing here is not some distant dystopian future. It's our dystopian reality.
In May, Elliptic, together with researchers from MIT and IBM, developed a dataset to identify "the shape of money laundering" on the blockchain.
This dataset attempts to predict money laundering activity that has "not yet been labeled" by distinguishing between what the dataset defines as "anomalous signatures" and Bitcoin transfers between "licit services".
Falling out of these clusters deemed normal by intelligence financed corporations already leaves you penalized. Avoid KYC services? Flagged. Can't tie your transactions to a bank account? Flagged. Frequent user of coinjoins? Flagged.
You are already being debanked because a computer program has decided that you are a money launderer – not because you did something illegal, but because your transactions are deemed abnormal – and you have no legal recourse as suspicious activity reports swear financial institutions to absolute secrecy.
It's the full on criminalization of privacy in finance. The future is here, and it's Orwellian.
Ya I dunno man... This is for the gilded cage and it is real to a certain extent. But how would this be implemented in a world where people only use Bitcoin? "Here, use our software to prevent people we deem criminals from buying things at your establishment." Are bitcoiners really going to fall for that?
Regardless, I used to listen to Snowden's speeches a lot and I've read his book. After a period of time I found that he's very paranoid and I suspect that paranoia was foolishly and unknowingly engineered by his own hand due to some kind of inner personal demons. That is not to say he was wrong about leaking and what he leaked. That is also not to say he doesn't have a high threat risk situation and that's not to say his advocacy for privacy is entirely wrong.
My point being is that I think he has some tunnel vision and perhaps some issues. He used to praise Monero's privacy first design a lot in the past and due to his privacy tunnel vision he hadn't thought through Bitcoin and the Lightning network's privacy tradeoffs and implications. I haven't kept up with how he views Bitcoin and Monero today, which is certainly a fault in my point and my suspicions.
But if his mind hasn't changed much, then I doubt he would have any peace of mind if he was pardoned. He would still be living in fear. I respect what Snowden has done and he should be pardoned. He's right that the US government does indeed spy on its citizens. But above all I think he needs some help, he deserves to no longer live in fear.

Alright so James Gunn's run at DC is starting this December with the animated TV show Creature Commandos. Provided there are no delays, I'm curious to see how good this new era for DC animation and live action will be. Honestly, I would be ecstatic if DC's live action films could break into the mainstream, gain traction, and actually rival Marvel's cinematic universe.
That's a tall task with not a whole lot of success historically speaking. Arguably every Batman movie does well but there's so much more to DC that people might really enjoy. In some sense, releasing an animated TV show is very safe for DC. DC fans know that their animations are good, maybe the mainstream too. But the real test is going to be the live action movies. With Superman being the first film, fans are happy but mainstream skeptics are probably groaning. We can only hope, wait, and see.
God can this bull market be over with? I want more sats! 🤣
Ayo! Sure, I'll take this take. 👍
It's very possible the crowd for Trump was much larger than any other speaker at the conference and I dare to speculate that there might have been more people there for Trump's speech in that moment than for Bitcoin. 🤔
RFK is another option. He gave a very intelligent and convincing speech at the Bitcoin conference. Though here's the problem, he's still a politician. I think voting for president is for kicks and giggles. The only real option is Bitcoin and doing difficult things yourself to improve adoption on a local level.
I don't know if the people necessarily have that power to keep someone in the federal government accountable. Have we ever had that power? I'm not entirely being rhetorical here. It's a genuine curiosity.
Yup. I think RFK made a great impression and I'm convinced he has gone through a journey to understand Bitcoin. Though who knows what would really happen once the office has a new president. There would probably be all sorts of things that could stop or delay any promises or movement towards fixing America's economy. Money printers have the amazing ability to entrance government with foolish greed. You might even say that the money printer is the government.
Quick questions for all nostritches, especially those building apps. Is there a decentralized storage problem? Is it desirable to have a public decentralized "Google Drive?" I'm thinking of something akin to that of IPFS but with Bitcoin. Perhaps this isn't necessary considering torrenting sites. I'd love opinions. Maybe I'm asking the wrong questions.
