The lost art of putting food one grows into jars

Nectarine fruit leather is better when dehydrated with a loki miner

No salt water involved here. Heat exchanger was the $$ on this project for sure. I think 200-300 federal reserve tickets. It’s a dual loop system so miner side is immersion fluid and the pool side is in line with the filter
No it’s some junk from china. Found it used on eBay and avoided the shipping fees.. It works better than the plastic ikea trash can I started with at least. It’s a bit bigger than it needs to be so I put some pavers in to reduce volume of coolant needed
Turning the sun into sats and heating the pool at the same time

Five alarm
For anyone who may want to try a scythe...
https://scythesupply.com/build-a-custom-outfit.html
Do it. Read about blade selection. Don't try to jump in with a longer blade, because if you're new to it, it'll go poorly. Your body and mind have to learn. Peening is work and takes time. You'll want a Schroeckenfux anvil anyway, so might as well get it now.
When you get it right, it is no bullshit a near-spiritual experience. The perfect balance of mind, body, and engineering. You don't want to stop. The world would be a better place if everyone mowed with a scythe.
This guy gets it
Lamb, potatoes, and garlic. All from the farm

Summer mornings are for pickling

It begins

For this job I’m using the “gardener’s” blade which has a little toe and sharp curve at the tip. Let’s you slice right to the end or at least good enough for me. It’s great. Or I’ll bend over and yank the weed out.
Before discovering the #scythe I would use the weed whacker here and end up flinging rocks and debris near the house and deck. Now I can hang out with my kids while I’m mowing

All of us or none of us
No I didn’t plant enough to drown out everything but it did help... probably will do more next year. Worked out as more of a bonus crop than a cover crop but I’ll take it.
Haven’t turned it over but I’ll probably #scythe them down, layer on some hay, and plant with corn and pumpkins later in the summer
First year doing fava beans as a cover crop on one of my spots over the winter. Seems to have worked out

Home made hot sauce and or pickled pepper rings for tacos etc are great. I like to add in some carrot slices and onions to the pickles
