Sometimes it takes me months to open a #nostr client and read or write something, which is cool and shows that, at least for me (and I strongly suspect this is also true for many others), this platform is free of all that social‑media urge to be updated.
Saint John’s Eve in São Luís, Brazil. With procession, brass band, mass, bonfire, Bumba Meu Boi, and the beautiful pennon made by my wife.

I've read and I can say that Thiel's contrasting of "innovation" and "globalization" (the latter being essentially a horizontal reproduction of existing solutions) is insightful. The idea that a true monopoly lies in being the only one capable of doing something (by real skill and not by outing the competitors) is less cynical than it initially seems. And I also liked the reflections on "occult sales" (say you are in just for innovation and so on, and create beautiful things so everyone will want to buy your product even when you haven't announced it as a product).
As more people in Humanities transition from academia to independent online entrepreneurship, curiosity grows about the financial lives of poets, philosophers and artists in previous periods in history when academic positions weren’t the obvious choice. So it’s a bit ironic to learn here that Schelling, as a distinguished state-sponsored professor, earned the equivalent of 1 million euros per year. Mindblowing.
Meu caro, essa mensagem me deu muita alegria.

Newsletter platforms and social media blogging will pass; good old simple blogs will endure.

The area of investigation that centuries ago was known as ‘Natural Philosophy’ concerned with various aspects of reality and human action that for a while seemed just ‘esotericism’, but now are recognized under the umbrella-term ‘Sciences and Technology’ (not all of Natural Philosophy was just that, of course). I have an impression that today we’re facing the opposite process: much of what now seems just cute-edge bare materialist science (e.g. AI, quantum, DNA editing) will be regarded in the future as hardcore occult applied science.

I have a hard time understanding bitcoin supporters who want it to be universally illegal. It strikes me as an adolescent-like desire. I don't believe these people are truly interested in the betterment of society; they seem to just want to be different. #bitcoin #censorship
