All I wanna do is get weird on the web and make high quality nonsense with friends. I keep it PG. No swores; no lewds; no anger; no time like the present. My interests trend towards digital media, the internet, and FOSSness. Sometimes food. Also my interests don't really follow a trend. At all. Extremely cynical, paranoid, and sarcastic. … In like the friendliest way tho. I explicitly avoid zapping. I think money makes social media toxic.

To me they sound like the same problem. I stick with fiat because its easier and I trust the government more than I trust some random company/org running crypto miners.

Thanks for taking time to talk with me about it.

Much of the mining of the Monero privacycoin is done by a single mining pool named MineXMR.

I have never heard of Dero. πŸ€·πŸ»β€β™‚οΈ

I feel that if Bitcoin is the "best fighter" then crypto is not looking good.

From my perspective, crypto/web3 is not decentralized. It is REcentralized.

It removes money from government/state hands and gives it to a handful of strangers running the largest pools on whatever relevant blockchain. I don't think that is an improvement.

So apparently some clients let you delete notes and some do not....

weird.

I understand the desire to decentralize ownership of stuff. That part is the part that makes the most sense to me. However, I am not convinced that crypto is doing that... In fact, I think crypto is actually faking decentralization.

I would love to be proven wrong.

I'll use bitcoin as an example, since that is what seems to make nostr so popular.

1. 60%-70% of the Bitcoin blockchain is run on computers in China.

2. 1k clusters own 2 million BTC.

3. 10k clusters own 4 million BTC.

This to me sounds like not decentralization.

Searching the #linux and #FOSS tags are pulling up posts from friends of mine on mostr.pub. Lol

Cant seem to quite find my crowd yet.

The search continues.

Honestly I think I’d be happier if we had emoji reacts or something a bit more expressive than either likes or Zappos.

Likes are cool though.

The pink tree is pink again.

This is the most hilarious thing that has ever happened to me on nostr.

What an absolute madlad.

#[0] is hilarious and awesome.

Oh no way. Ok I am super curious.

I have been really on the fence about zaps. Why did you remove your wallet??

Hmm maybe.

It also might put more of a focus on relationships. Than social gamification. πŸ€·πŸ»β€β™‚οΈ

Yeah. I find this frustrating too.

Unfortunately it seems like most people only see the UI and think that is all a social platform is.

Since many open platforms are run by communities, they often dont measure up to the hardware that is running the closed platforms and that turns people off.

I guess.

I wonder what Nostr would be like if zaps didnt exist on the platform.

At church right now.

What's stopping me from adding all 450-something relays to my client? Other than spam? #pleb #plebchain
