I’m curious, what did they make wonky?

I was a very early user, one of the first few hundred off the wait list, and I was really into it. I even put all my spending on the card for the first four months. My problem was that the average rewards rate ended up being about 1.4% for me. Not bad, but I can do better by using a credit card that pays 2% cash back and buying bitcoin with that money. It didn’t seem worth it to jump through the hoops, spin on every transaction, etc, as fun as that was for a while.

If they improved the payouts I’d be open to giving it another shot, though.

Anyone here use the Fold Card as their main card?

Can’t imagine having a convo like this on Twitter and having it end in a civil place. Nostr is indeed the place.

That’s the thing though. An artist rendering is where an artist makes something up from scratch based on a description. There is way less creative freedom here. All of the content In the picture was captured by the telescope. It’s literally not an artist rendering. At worst, it’s retouched and color-shifted. You make it seem like these pictures are fake news or something, which is far from the truth.

I think the thinking is great and it’s well written, but I’m not sure this is what the ice cream shop had in mind when they asked for feedback and I think it’s not going to resonate with them. Their business probably isn’t nearly failing because our money is broken (well, maybe loosely & indirectly). It’s failing because their revenues don’t sufficiently outweigh their costs. How can they make more money? They can increase demand, increase prices, or reduce costs. Increasing demand often takes money to buy marketing, which increases costs, which a struggling business might not be able to sustain. It’s also hard to control costs unless you have enough scale to squeeze your suppliers for discounts or economize on labor. So for a small business like them, the easiest lever to pull would be to increase prices…. which could hurt demand.

But there’s another way to reduce costs. Compared to credit card processing fees, it’s much cheaper to accept bitcoin. Perhaps enough to offer discounts for paying in bitcoin. nostr:npub18ams6ewn5aj2n3wt2qawzglx9mr4nzksxhvrdc4gzrecw7n5tvjqctp424 mentioned some options.

Whether the savings are big enough to matter to them is just a math problem, but it’s probably a more relatable way to introduce bitcoin.

Is it just me or are 99% of the people on Nostr homesteaders and/or devs?

Of course it’s not a photograph because most of the interesting stuff in space consists of light and gases that humans can’t see. If these images only included the visible spectrum they would be mostly black. That doesn’t make them any less astonishing. Shifting e.g. infrared or X-Ray spectrum into visible wavelengths, which is basically what these “artists” do, just reveals the incredible galactic-scale structures of gases and dust clouds that make up our galaxy. The resolution across so many wavelengths from such a distance is incredible.

That’s not an artist rendering. Various gases are colorized to reveal structure but the image and all the data used to colorize the gas clouds come from the telescope’s sensors.

Scroll down and open the “zoomable” images in the official JWST gallery. It boggles my mind how far away these objects are and what an absolutely minuscule arc of the sky these images each capture. I mean seriously what the hell. https://webbtelescope.org/news/first-images/gallery nostr:note1zkfweg3tdq76p6x9a5cs3ahfs7amvpzvzuv4r0zpq2yjclkt0neql0dspr

The images coming back from the Webb Space Telescope are just ridiculous. Look at this detail. https://cdn.nostr.build/p/Avx7.webp
