What a day. #alien corpses AND #penisbutter.
Good call out. In my case, I host locally but I use a cloud service (linode) for a VPS to route clearnet traffic thru a Wireguard tunnel to my server at home. Not concerned about storage; bandwidth is my issue.
I mean, easier to set max connections to 40 and max upload target to like 5000 or something in bitcoin.conf, but still worth considering a move regardless…
👀
Unlimited traffic and unlimited bandwidth… didn’t know that was a thing with hosting providers. Interesting…
Great idea, tell that to Akamai 😂
Wow bitcoind can use a shit ton of bandwidth if you let it. Hosting bill is gonna be intense this month 😅

Great answer, thanks! Went ahead and snagged a bag of Geometry from you because it sounds like it might be more what I’m after as an all rounder. I’ll report back via #coffeechain !
nostr:npub199wj68sgxv6ejq5v4ajrg8vzewcg49eh7lp3lusl8hhy343adu2qp74ut6 I’ve been interested in trying Onyx but have never pulled the trigger. I brew espresso and immersion-drip equally and have recently enjoyed running the same bag of coffee through multiple brew methods to explore it a bit more. I tend to prefer medium-dark roasts in espresso and light-medium roasts for drip but am flexible.
What Onyx would you say might work best as an all-rounder?

Loss of funds in this context should refer to the balance locked up in channels going poof, not bleeding on fees that were negotiated as part of channel open.

I’d love to try this because at the face of it, coffee and baiju seem like about as natural a combo as oil and water*. I’m intrigued…
For those unfamiliar with baiju, it’s a high-proof sorghum liquor that tastes sort of like pineapples, rolling tobacco and gasoline (but in a good way, if you can imagine it).

Ok yeah, that makes sense. I’ve force closed on two occasions in the past: once for a peer that was offline for 3 weeks; once when my node crashed and I restored from a channel backup.
This post is timely because the tendency to abuse executive power today sees its roots in our response to 9/11 and the justification for the Iraq war.
One may look at the economy and say “wtf happened in 1971.” Similarly, one may look at how government power dynamics have changed over the years and say “wtf happened in 2001?”
Ok got it, so the real cost of the force close is the transaction fee (probably not a lot) but it makes you a bad neighbor if your peer is the one who opened the channel you just force closed, making them eat the fee?
