Hey, you’re here! Bienvenidos.

Tailscale works for personal use (think long term archival). Not meant for friends/family use. Don’t think there’s a very good solution for this as of yet.

I download Zeus LN, Bitcoin Beach and Blixt Wallet from Github via Obtanium. No problems here.

Nostr-rs-relay doesn’t seem to support this NIP (which is what umbrel is using). Does any client even support that yet?

It’s good! I’m not worried about filling up my disk with my own nostr notes. I’m a pretty prolific poster and 5 Megabytes out of 1 Terabyte hard drive is nothing.

Testing out nostr relay on Umbrel. 3000 of my real historical events taking up 5.2MB on disk. Nada.

Also interested in micro transaction pay per note.

I built a little tool that lets you back up your note history from your existing relays to your Umbrel. Then, going forward, your client will save new notes to your umbrel as you post.

<3. While you’re here, check out yesterday’s adventure of building on nostr..btw, lncal.com !?!?!?!? Followed right back. This is awesome.

Running my own private nostr relay on umbrel.

I guess I use nostr a lot…

The protocol is just ridiculously simple & others who came before me left me with the right primitives.

Yeah, that felt right. pv.

I’ve been trying to make the switch to grapheneOS. Slowly but surely I’m identifying FOSS alternatives to the apps I need. Haven’t tried google play sandbox yet, want to try and go totally pure.

Hey there nostriches that are trying out nostr on Umbrel today!!!

I just built a little tool you can use to migrate all your notes from some relays and re-broadcast them to your new private Umbrel relay.

Check it out here: https://github.com/leesalminen/nostr-broadcast

Note, this is garbage code. It should work, no promises. Hopefully someone makes it better.

Yes, I’m just waiting for a messaging only client that’s polished enough to give my 70-something mother.

Weird I had to ssh in and run `sudo ~/umbrel/scripts/repo update`. All good now. Thanks homie

Got it, thanks! I wasn’t following Klabo.

Still loading maybe? The way it works right now (not sure if best option or no) is that first it connects to some bootstrap relay urls and tries to find your relay list. Once we find your relay list, we connect to your relays, then get your followers. Maybe there’s a better/faster way.

Only if they are confirmed CIA.

Hosted by Bitcoin Jungle :).

Not until a nostr client has a built in lightning wallet with a lightning address.

This all adds up. Pura vida.

Right now: people with Apple Developer accounts can try this out

Soon: TestFlight users

Later: Public App Store

Nostr is a protocol, not a platform.

I think you’re missing wss://no.str.cr … the only relay hosted in Costa Rica.

Did you know that Ross Ulbricht spent much of his childhood right here on the Osa Peninsula in Costa Rica?

We miss you, Gillian! A vendor was just talking about you yesterday actually. You orange pilled them so well that I can’t get them to sell me any sats! Hope you come back soon.

Not only that, he’s a maxi & bitcoin jungle co-founder.

Symmetrical fiber connections galore here.

If the user only published their notes to their own relay, then yes the notes would disappear while the RPI was offline. However, I think the most general use case for a self-hosted relay on a RPI is personal archival of your notes. Users would still post to multiple relays. Clients can also choose to cache notes for as long as they want.

Don’t forget, one of the best Bitcoin Circular Economies is here, too :).
