People use these things in calculus out of convenience but it always itched me that I couldn't have the time to understand all their inner workings thoroughly. I'm a sad man

Didn't know they used 🍆 emojies

You know, the eagle loves rabbits and the government loves you

Watched the movie " Dark Waters" with Mark Ruffulo last night. It follows the true story of a lawyer whom uncovers the cover-ups and down right malicious intent behind DuPont. They had created a compound that they called POFA aka C-8 a forever chemical that was used to Coat tanks because it repeled water.

Then as is tradition they sink so much R&D into creating the compound once the war (demand) was over they looked for other areas to use this new compound in. Low and behold they found applications in household products for cooking (teflon). So they rolled out using the compound in vast swaths of things (clothing, bath mats, the list is too long to remember) all the while the company began to realize that internally the workers worked with these compounds begun to exhibit all kinds of varying sicknesses.

They definitely could internally attribute the sickenss being the compunds themselves but they did not stop its use as the profit they were making with it was too great. They also never gave proper disclosures to their workers to the buyers and users of said products either.

It took a small farmer losing almost all of us cattle and documentation of the events before he pleaded with mark ruffullos character to help him go after DuPont.

This displays the asymmetries in court of law. Nobody locally would even attempt to go after the " big guy" for fear of repercussions and backlash as the small town they were operating in was the largest employer.

All in all it was a great movie that i highly recommend. Now that ive been just mulling over the entire scenario in my head. We all generally assume others never wish to deliberately do harm to others. This case showed the exact opposite. For 40 years there were clear cut accounts that multiple people were well aware of the harm they were responsible for and yet nobody stopped it from ouccuring. It just kept going on and on. It saddens me inside that these level of disregard for human life was abhorrently accepted as it is what it is by hundreds of thousands of people over the years.

The "safe guards" that were out in force did nothing to stop the harm from ouccuring EPA and other "saftey agencies" were powerless from this ouccuring.

Now nobody is exempt from exposure to these forever chemicals. 99% of the world are exposed to these. It babes me wonder how much of my current day to day is enveloped with scandals of a similar ilk.. blatant disregard for life that is the most precious commodity.

This is my morning brain dump over the movie...

Inflation is the main root of the rotten tree in this respect. It corrupts the minds and then destroys and puts makeup in the products. A truly disgusting world

I'm glad that I learned how to have fun before antisocial networks became normalized

Hey Pierre, everyday you look more shredded 😂

The key to avoid this is extensive education. The more people are producing the merrier. It doesn't matter if they go at turtle's pace.

It's called the law of comparative advantage

Eventually, if some (even extremely talented) devs are stubborn enough to keep working alone, they will be made irrelevant by groups of people working in groups of Dunbar number sizes. They'll miss the advantages of having better opportunity costs by delegating tasks to others with less talent.

And all of this will happen because programming education will be more widespread

That may explain why I never had friends in university

See, I don't agree. Doesn't matter how much governments try to attack privacy. If you analyze it, the foundation of privacy is things being free and open-source (FOS). If a thing is like that, then almost everyone will be able to give it to you privately, without any vigilance.

Now, Bitcoin will cause everything to deflate, and if they get deflated enough, they will eventually FOSify, doesn't matter what governments want or pretends to do

Therefore, in my point of view, Bitcoin is by itself the sound foundation for privacy and can't really be stopped in this task, because that would mean to stop deflation and kill Bitcoin, something that is near to impossible

I love this meme. It's simple, expressive and ironic

Yeah, I also find weird that people don't say that earth can be a moebius strip or a knot
