Thought it would add mechanical advantage.
Been cooking some other projects...

Nah. Just wintertime and lack of good indoor space for activities. Probably not terrible to have the staves cure another season though.
I see it #Amethyst
Think I found my stave to make the next #TradBow #bowstr
You can see the straightness and lack of knots. Just have to take it down more to check for splits.
Also probably need to side quest to make a shaving horse for use with the draw knife.

"You're the definition of tinkerer"
"Huh?"
"The sounds you were making. *tink* *tink* *tink*. You're tinkering."
😅

The part of the bow facing the target is the "back" of the bow. The other side facing the archer is the "belly".
Glad I finally started. It's perfect weather to start too.
Hatchet needs a sharpening. Would be a good hobby to add.
Shortcut! Can split off small chunks to get to bow stave size faster. Just be careful you don't split too close to the belly.
Forgot the word "belly" hear. But good outline of general goal for next step.

Draw knife and four way file just arrived!

Draw knife and file set inbound from a friend. Need to research making a shaving horse and maybe make a crude one.
Hatchet, draw knife, farriers rasp is the most basic tool set for shaping a bow.
Nah. Northern Shenandoah.
#tradbow making might be a little painful at first. I definitely need to improve my splitting technique.

It has begun. #tradbow
Turning wood into awesome. Maybe.
