I am signing up for replit's 100 days of Python challenge!
I will make sure to spend time everyday coding along, for a min of 10 mins a day.
I'll be using Replit, an amazing online IDE so I can do this from my phone wherever I happen to be. No excuses for not coding out in the middle of a field!

I don't know just spit-balling here. Could be completely off base. I also would like the ability to have some things forgotten over time. For example the typos I just made in this thread.
Or rather certain event types. You'd obviusoly want to maintain your following any persistent content such as blog articles, long threads, etc.
Yeah set it to delete events every 3 months or so.
Maybe you could adjust the config to automatically delete historical content after a set period of time.
Nostr really is like Galt's Gulch... So many folks opting out and into a parallel system. Love to see it!

So DMs are pretty bad for privacy here concerning metadata, even if the message itself is encrypted. I am wondering what the possible solutions are...

I used this guide and setup everything except the paid stuff and Zebedee API. Worked like a charm once I had the right order.
I really appreciate NostrPlebs' sharing link feature. It allows users to create a simple web link to their profile using their NostrPlebs username or other NostrPlebs domains. For example, instead of sharing a long npub1 code, I can direct people to my profile at https://nostrpurple.com/s/patrick. This alone makes signing up for NostrPlebs worthwhile for most users.
When someone clicks on a NostrPlebs profile link, the site first attempts to send a nostr:pubkey reference in case the user's device has assigned a default app like Damus or Amethyst. If there is no default app, the site then redirects to snort.social. I've had a redirect for patrickulrich.com/nostr to my nostr:pubkey for a little bit now but I find the second redirect to snort.social to be a clever addition for web users.
The only issue I've encountered is when using Chrome on mobile, the browser redirects to snort.social before I can tap the "Open in app" button to launch Amethyst. To address this, it would be helpful if there were a longer delay before redirecting to snort.social after sending the nostr:pubkey redirect on NostrPlebs links. #[0] #[1]
In an ideal scenario, I would prefer to see the html redirect lead to a service similar to vide.page (e.g., https://vida.page/patrick) that would allow NostrPlebs subscribers to set up multiple nostr-based service links. As more nostr-based services become available, users may want to locate NostrPlebs users beyond just being directed to snort.social. I suspect this idea is already on NostrPlebs' radar, but I believe it would be another valuable feature.
Overall, the NostrPlebs sharing link is an excellent addition for subscribers who wish to make it easy for others to find them. While it may seem like a small feature, it is these kinds of details that add up and increase the overall value of a service like this. When combined with NostrPlebs' other features picking up a basic name for 12.5k satoshis is an excellent deal.
