One of the problem with short term democracies is the high cost of re-electing new leaders every 4 to 5 years. Each time it requires more (bribery) & lobby money to enrich the political class and the top 1% later.
It's practically impossible to get done anything that can last 100 years in 4 years, specially while one administration will be replace soon by another.

When I look at all the investments in the world, I don't see anything you can put your money in where you can truely own it and that can multiply the value of your money like bitcoin.

Gold requires some massive heavy equipments to be mined cost-effectively(with a profit) or else you lose time and money.
Starships and rocket have a very limited amount of loads they can carry, and even if they could they wouldn't be able to make it close to another planet without getting evaporated(exploded) into space.
Plus the gold would have to be found and located. No I can't see Elon or his friends looking for gold in space they are not that stupid as would mine more real gold having stayed on earth.
