Relevant conversation, and important question, but let me take a tangent here and argue that most of us don’t have to become “content creators” to enjoy the spoils of this platform.

Thanks to zaps I can see a revenue stream assigned by the community to those that add some sort of value to other people, regardless of its content.

For instance, I received zaps on a post where I shared a 24km run. Why? Perhaps for simple empathetic celebratory reasons. Someone felt compelled to reward my enthusiasm, which is great. Conversely I’ve sent zaps to all sorts of posts from people I’m sure don’t see themselves as content creators as well.

Thus, yes. There is a valid discussion to be had on the incentives to attract quality content to #nostr, but even if the rewards pale in relation to other sources, we still have the community encouraging other people to hang around and exchange. nostr:note1n3dnn0tfkm34srs8w6ttv78w7r29e55mpgzuan7v2ph4tmt9t40ssdg7gg

Fun fact. In Brazil the short for Whatsapp is, you guess, Zap. It’s common to hear people saying “send me a zap” referring to a WhatsApp message.

It has nothing to do with the tech and everything to do about doctrine, but I feel slightly embarrassed to receive #zaps, even, and specially when, I gladly send them on similar content.

Still, what better incentive for people like me? Zap cuts through social appearances and goes straight to the real value of one’s collaboration.

Something tells me it will grow exponentially and become the main incentive for people to use #nostr as their main platform.

Perhaps there was an inflow of people such as myself, brought in light of the Damus vs Apple case.

In my case, despite being a Twitter user for as long as I can remember, I never interacted much for not finding there the community spirit I see here.

I’m still finding my way, and people are being very friendly and helpful, so I hope to share and exchange more over time.

One funny thing about it. Whenever I open my Blue Wallet, I only see sats.

What I mean by that is that any price concerns are gone. zaps + sats has been the closets to “real money” I ever felt about this market.
