What does 0% inflation mean? Did they take money out of circulation? Have they pledged to no longer inflate money supply?
The fact users feel the need to state "functionality for #Nostr zapping that works in the US." is both a failure for us as a #Bitcoin community, but also in the understanding and education that people have over Bitcoin.
Bitcoin cares not for borders. And if applications and services rely on them, they haven't been built correctly.
It hasn't always been the case (and in which case I'd argue some were just early) but at this time there are GOOD, better options that achieve self-custody and do not discriminate based on geographical location.
We can do better. We must do better.
Permissioned money sucks. And permissioned Bitcoin isn't Bitcoin.
Okay, I haven't seen this asked yet so I'm going to ask what may lead to some interesting discussion... :vegetasmirk:
Long-term, what'll differentiate #cashu and #Ark, and more importantly what might make one more preferable to the other? If that's the wrong way to view it, what'll make them complement each other?
Ark VTXOs seem to be very similar to ecash tokens.
Both rely on #Lightning for interoperability/communication with other nodes.
The main differences I see so far are:
- Ark interfaces with on-chain, cashu doesn't need to.
- Ark is self-custodied while cashu is not.
I can make some opinionated remarks as to which I could prefer long-term, but what the general vibe?
#Bitcoin
Just realized, apologies for the thread hijack and constant notifs :D
And thanks, might do so soon once I figure out what's stopping me from spending on CLN.
Yep aware, but to be clear I also have a public channel with LNBig.
What I've just noticed however, is that even though I've received funds into both those channels and thus now have outbound liquidity, both of them actually display 0 sats as spendable. So that's an avenue for me to look at.
Thanks for your thoughts!
Thanks, I'll just keep looking into it.
Also, you're right, Olympus' LSP doesn't do public channels yet. I mistook that option for the one on outbound channels.
I understand it's just for receiving, however, if I ever want to move certain amounts my only option would be to close the channel (and keep buying new inbound ones). Would be great if I could send as well, and just seems odd that I can't, clearly something's wrong.
Yep, I have an LND node as well, which is my main node. Even opened a channel between both - LND can send to CLN, but not viceversa.
That's good to know, thanks.
Pretty sure Zeus does public channels now too.
My main problem is that I can receive to CLN, but can't send out due to lack of route (even though I have liquidity, node is connected and just received).
Starting to think it's an issue with #Start9's CLN implementation.
This.
So much this.
Let's continue to build nostr, the potential is staggering and only the few see it.
Using #0xchat as my main form of comms.
Moved some friends and family.
Is it missing some features we'd like? Yes. Those will come.
Do we get to just use a single protocol while clients compete amongst each other for features and userbase without creating walled gardens? Also yes.
Just noticed that nostr:npub1qtvl2em0llpnnllffhat8zltugwwz97x79gfmxfz4qk52n6zpk3qq87dze found 5 blocks this week.
Interesting. They rarely find blacks.
Been trying to switch over to them for a while.
But because I'm not the only one moving in my group, Lightning is a requirement.
However, #Bolt12 for lightning is just getting started to be adopted, and Ocean only accepts Bolt12 offers.
Running a CLN node now alongside my LND node.
LNBig LSP connectivity isn't what it used to be - My last-ditch effort will be to use nostr:npub1xnf02f60r9v0e5kty33a404dm79zr7z2eepyrk5gsq3m7pwvsz2sazlpr5's new Olympus LSP with an inbound channel. If it all works for receiving, then nostr:npub1d0xx2jchu8txjttnht94rt0s5gmx584khjeq87vddw3f570d64dq2d5kgg here I come.
Been completing orders in 10 mins on #Robosats nostr:npub1p2psats79rypr8lpnl9t5qdekfp700x660qsgw284xvq4s09lqrqqk3m82. Easy, quick, cheap.

Strike is also my favorite way to buy bitcoin. I use the send "cash" feature. I send "cash" directly from my bank account into my Lightning wallet by sending to my Lightning address. It makes stacking sats incredibly easy. You can also setup DCA purchases if that's more your thing too.
I've been using Strike for years and highly recommend this app. Why? The UI is slick and simple. Plus, nostr:nprofile1qqsvf646uxlreajhhsv9tms9u6w7nuzeedaqty38z69cpwyhv89ufcqpzamhxue69uhhyetvv9ujumn0wd68ytnzv9hxgtcvd6gmf is an incredible human that also goes into the trenches and does tech support, directly helping his users. Most Bitcoin exchange founders aren't going to do that. I love the work ethic.
Enough shilling 🥹 I am just happy to see the UK finally get access to Strike.
Let's pour our PII into yet another centralized organization that likely also outsources that custody of said PII to a third-party due to regulations - As if we've learnt nothing over the years, decades.
There WILL be a leak given a long enough timeframe.
I understand lightning custodial solutions as a transitional solution, but encouraging KYC... That's low.
Dafuq is kaspa....
If you mine with #MARA, please take an introspective break and consider this. If you find you do have some shred #integrity, of values to hold onto, where #greed doesn't control you, but you can control it, switch to another pool, preferably one with less #hashrate. Help the #Bitcoin network now, so it helps you longer-term. It's always been a low-time-preference thing, even for a #miner, as much as the big pools (along with #FPPS) have tried to normalize that it isn't.

A lot of these are on Linux also. If you're leaving Adobe, do yourself a favor and plan to ditch Windows also. They have the same ToS in many respects after all.
I've seen UK-based donations campaigns for #Assange asking for £520k...
I've seen US-based donation campaigns asking for $520k...
Wouldn't be surprised if there's an Australian one for $520k AUD.
Which one is it?
I feel this may be a layer 8 example where most people don't understand the money they use in the first place.
That, or I'm missing something...
