#Bitcoin is an engineered system with genetic properties. Like other forms of life, it will adopt progressive “genetic” alterations that allow it to acquire more energy.
In the same way that Lions will not adopt a genetic alteration that removes their teeth or strength, nor will #Bitcoin adopt genetic alterations that inhibit its ability to acquire more energy. This is why inferior forks of the system go to zero (I.e, BitcoinPOS). It’s a distributed, synthetic energy life form entirely out of anybody’s hands.
This is what people calling for Bitcoin to switch to PoS don’t understand. There will be no regressive alterations to Bitcoin like there will be no regressive alterations to Lions. More energy or death.

Quoting growth rate as a percentage is misleading. Better to quote the projected absolute size in GB. The growth rate doesn’t compound, it’s linear. If every block is 4MB we can expect a max chain growth size of ~210GB per year

Once you have a functioning global ledger that works, the marginal utility of additional ledgers is zero. This is one reason why there won’t be competitors to #Bitcoin, and all imitations of it are headed to zero.
