NOSTR is to empower users not to empower software. keep it simple and you will win. I dont understand why a client is consuming so much bandwidth if connection.pushing and getting events are on client side yo should keep it more simple .... Now people are uploading pictures using external servers but what about a system to sign every picture with your keypair before uploading it to public servers? using nostr keypair would match? I don't know if it is technichally possible

The most important thing and I guess no client dev is working on is Backup for your personal data. Right now we are depending on realys, if relays start blocking you massively, you will loose your events because there are saved on relays and not on your client or your desktop,smartphone,etc.
