Also I think that's almost always true - certainly for the kinds of cancers that would show up on a PET scan - but that some cancers apparently use diff substrates for growth. (? I went deep into this ages ago, and don't remember the details so I could be/would love to be wrong about that.)

In any case everything improves when you improve your metabolic health!

One easy way into the conversation if the family member is more conventional: being in ketosis usually improves the efficacy of standard treatments. For someone who is willing to go down a rabbit hole, I've seen lots of positive references to Paleomedina. I don't think they list cancer on their website but I've heard several folks mention that the main dr in that practice has had success with remission for patients who are willing to go all-in with her dietary suggestions.

I see constant talk about how Bitcoin is the way of the future, how it's the answer, the solution to the corrupt and mismanaged fiat system, a revolution, a way to put the power back in the hands of the people, digital capital, how it has so much utility, how it is the perfect money...

see anyone talking about how we'll actually value it in a future where it has achieved the goal that everyone idolizes. Why? Why does it feel like there's no true long-term plan?

Lots of people say "don't value your Bitcoin in fiat", but they just stop there. They don't even bother with trying to extend that thought. I feel like this is a mistake to not take it further.

Imagine a future where Bitcoin has become our new primary store of value and we no longer value Bitcoin in fiat. How will we value it at that point? What will one BTC be representative of?

How will we determine this new system of value? How will we arrive at a consensus for it? Will this somehow naturally and organically grow out of the decentralized nature as the system becomes more and more widespread and adopted and used, similar to the dynamics involved in the emergence of the first currencies? Or will there need to be some form of committee formed to make a decision about how we value BTC? Will governments play a role in this?

All the talk of "0.1 BTC is all you need" and "whole coiners" is all purely based on fiat, and doesn't address anything about the long term future of Bitcoin.

I was wondering if people can tell me if any thought is actually being put towards this. I'd like to read about any progress towards this, or about thought experiments for it, or see videos or listen to podcasts that discuss it. So any kind of recommendation of reading materials or other information would be greatly welcome.

Memes and pithy hype quotes aren't going to do shit for us. If this truly is a revolution, we need plans, and we need to ask the hard questions and deal with the tough discussions and start to think about the goal we all dream of actually being realized. Memes and parroting "stack sats" are the lowest of the low hanging fruit.

Unless you're trying be a central planner, you don't really need a consensus.

You just need an agreement with (say) farmer Jones for how much you're willing to pay for her eggs, and an agreement with one of your customers about how much you want for your labor. The market takes care of the rest.

Dairy products seem to interfere with fat loss for most folks. They are sometimes recommended when someone wants to do carnivore but wants to gain weight. However, Ken Berry has some pretty harsh things to say about the inflammatory effects of dairy.

Personally I do well with kefir (that we make with raw local milk) and some cheese on my burgers, but I haven't tried just ruminant meat and salt. It's possible that I would feel even better without dairy.

HI've noticed on Threads, Bluesky, and even some apps here on Nostr that I’m shown a lot more content from people I’m not following. This is often due to reposts, quote posts, or just the algorithms at work. While this content can be engaging and spark conversations, it’s often not healthy.

I see people posting obviously or maybe obliviously wrong things, which then get corrected and boosted, creating a vicious cycle. For example, someone mentioned considering a hyphenated name for their kids. I shared how my hyphenated name caused issues with computers, especially with international travel. This led to many calling me a bigot because the original poster was a queer woman. It’s odd because I’m queer myself, but it seems they felt an amab queer shouldn’t share personal experiences directly related to the topic.

I also saw clickbait articles about triathletes vomiting at the end of an Olympic triathlon, blaming it on a polluted river. Yes, the river is polluted, but triathletes often throw up at the end of races, and the swim was two hours before the nausea hit.

These issues occurred on Twitter too, but I didn’t experience it the same way there. I used Twitter daily from the moment Jack invited me and our coworkers onto the service, and for me, the conversations were healthier. I understand that many others had negative experiences, though.

On Nostr, I see zaps often rewarding hot takes and posts that signal membership in one group or another. This seems to exacerbate the issue, as people are incentivized to make posts that cater to specific in-groups rather than fostering genuine dialogue.

My worry is that maybe we’re actually doing worse with the new platforms. Is this something other people are seeing? How do we navigate this and foster healthier online conversations?

This is not what I'm seeing, actually. Very occasionally I block someone in the comments - nastiness or just trollish bs - because there's some stuff I don't need to see, but mostly I love my feed. Find it informative and thought-provoking.

Can you (or someone) clarify: on Nostr, how would we see content from folks that we don't follow other than via reposts? I've never seen a post from someone that I don't follow.

(Not the main point of your post, but the idea that as an amab queer you're just not supposed to post your personal experience in particular threads ... idk, that seems bizarre to me.)

I can only give you my thought process and thinking in hopes this just may ignite or renewed a spark in you.

First I think, it's their game plan to make us feel the system is broken so we just give up and they win. Well, actually they have already won but I feel it's my duty to peacefully attempt to reverse the current extreme governmental overreach.

Two things happen recently that has gotten me off the sidelines. The handling of COVID and losing my job because I refused the JAB. Now my attitude is get off my ass and try to make a difference.

The thing that attracts me to RFK is he has demonstrated to me he has integrity. I don't agree fully with his stance on Israel either because I think Israel knew the attack was coming and let it happen so they could justify their current responses. They were taking a page out of war mongering handbook.

My sense of duty is inspired from this text in the Declaration of Independence.

"We hold these Truths to be self-evident, that all Men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Happiness—-That to secure these Rights, Governments are instituted among Men, deriving their just Powers from the Consent of the Governed, that whenever any Form of Government becomes destructive of these Ends, it is the Right of the People to alter or to abolish it, and to institute new Government"

I would replace Men with People so it's gender neutral. I would also change the last phrase to: 'Right of the People' to 'Duty of the People'.

If my only choice was one of theuniparty candidates, I would likely vote for Trump or simply not vote and join the civil war movement.

What ever you choose to do, I hope you always strive to make a better place for the generations to come.

Thank you for such a thoughtful response! I found the covid handling so appalling that I left a good life to start from scratch on raw land. Much of what my husband I do here - permaculture, community, work choices - is geared toward making this world, or at least our corner of the world, better for future generations. So I'm with you fully on that. I've also come to believe that there are areas in which we do have power to reverse the current extreme governmental overreach: in the communities we build, the systems we support, the money we use.

What I'm not sure of is whether voting is one of those.

If I had to choose it would be RFK, probably mostly because of his intelligence and personal integrity. This is how I see it: DNC choice will happily sell us out to the highest bidder, Trump can be manipulated into doing so, and RFK might actually put up a fight before conceding. I do wonder if his stance on Israel is an example of him conceding.

In 2020 I held my nose and voted for Biden, thinking him the lesser of two evils (ha!) and also betting that once Dems were in charge maybe they would calm down about covid (haha!!!). I was so wrong, and I regret my vote. I don't think it would have been much better to vote for Trump, so I am inclined to think that it would have been better to just not participate.

In any case, I appreciate your note and may re-read it before November.

I definitely do better the more meat and animal fat I eat. For a few reasons (some that I would consider legit, and others not!) I'm not fully carnivore. Generally I feel great, and in the stretches that I am 100% carnivore, I feel absolutely amazing. Great mood, great energy, kind of invincible.

I haven't heard of too many folks who don't see positive changes.

Who knows what actually happened, but I can totally imagine Jamie Dimon saying something positive about Trump and that being enough. "He's a good guy, one of the best. So smart, so smart." And just like that, one of the worst of the establishment becomes Secty of the Treasury.

Hello, Nostr friends!

We just put down a deposit on a half cow with a local, family-owned regenerative farm. I think they're still at the early stages of some good stuff that we're learning about here on the homestead (silvopasture, tree hay, soil biology, etc), but they're on the right track and it feels great to support them.

Between their beef (this is our second order), pork from a friend's farm, raw milk from a local dairy, and our own eggs, ducks and rabbits, we probably get at least 80% of our calories from within a very small radius and from folks who are literally regenerating the land in the way that they raise their livestock.

So far only the pork is paid for with bitcoin, but we'll work on that!

Everyone’s still talking about the Algerian boxer and I have some thoughts, too.

1. Imane Khelif is intersex, born with XY chromosomes but female equipment. Not trans. 100 years ago, everyone would say “woman” and have no reason to doubt it.

Natural biological sex is almost always clear, and I object to the intentional confusion of the issue by the Woke. But I also object to intentional ignorance of the cases and ways in which biological sex can be a complex matter, like this one.

Is it genetics or naturally developed body parts that make you male or female? Both necessarily? It’s rare you have to ask this question, but if you’re going to weigh in on this authoritatively, you should do so with humility.

It’s a fair question how to determine who should be allowed to compete in women’s sporting events. But we should have our facts straight when looking at this example.

2. Many have said something along the lines of “it used to be a crime for a man to hit a woman! You’d get locked up!”

The actual crime is assault, not man-hits-woman.

When two male boxers hit each other consensually as part of a match, it isn’t assault. When a man hits another on the street to humiliate him or take his stuff, it’s assault.

When the men and women in my kung fu class sparred with each other, it wasn’t assault.

I disagree with men (my mind isn’t quite made up on intersex people) being included in women’s sports because it’s lying. But if someone agrees with full knowledge to participate in such a match (I don’t know if Angela Carini knew), that’s their choice. The fight that proceeds within the rules is a consensual act, not a crime.

There's been a tendency to expand "intersex," until the term becomes almost useless. Which is a pity, because in a case like this it's important information and makes for a different discussion.

Someone on the Tom Woods podcast recently outlined how this might be possible. He gave it a pretty low chance but talked through the steps. Kind of interesting.

But given the DNC's willingness to bend/break pretty much every rule - idk. If the election had to be decided by the House, I think the party would find a way to thwart that and would effectively sell their moves (no matter how immoral or unconstitutional) via the media.

I used to be fully infected with TDS. Once I recovered, the attacks from the media started looking crazy and then really dangerous.

At this point the fact that the establishment hates Trump is pretty much the best thing he has going for him IMHO.

But... he's strongly linked to Thiel (even before choosing Vance, and especially now) and has some pretty disturbing takes on things like police immunity. And he loves spending!

I may sit out this national election (for the first time in my life). The whole thing feels so broken that I just don't want to add my energy to it.

I have tremendous respect for RFK and have loved his courage in CHD for a long while. But somehow he's not making the connection between the money printer and the size of govt. I'm not quite sure why, but he seems to think that we just need more govt to clean up the mess that govt has largely created. And his stance on Israel is disheartening.

I'm open to being convinced otherwise, so have at it if you are so inclined. I genuinely like the guy, which is more than I can say for just about everyone for whom I have actually pulled the lever.
