https://blog.lopp.net/history-of-bitcoin-maximalism/
One thing toxic maxis and shitcoiners have in common is that they don't know how to read longform content and digest nuanced ideas or opposing viewpoints
Simply much too long and self involved.
Yes, people continue to attempt to coopt the protocol, yes, some identify as “maximalists”, no, none of them have noticeable success.
People construe feeling stressed as a sign of high demand for them, when in many cases they just poorly manage their own time
Competently made video, but it ultimately presents long familiar ideas. Historicism, Postmodernism, Neoclassicism, Jugendstil all tried to conceptualize beauty more explicitly, and nothing lasting came of it.
Beauty arguably emerges implicitly, with the individual natural constraints of each time.
haha, I saw and bookmarked it, I have yet to find time to watch it, will comment if I can say anything relevant
I respect Peter for taking the time to provide explanations in a discussion that only shows concern for personal sentiments any. Since the thread grew this far, I begrudgingly put in the time to add another seemingly obvious argument: Creating actually pleasant living spaces.
I want to find only one among the people of the fossil fuel and nuclear power supporters who want to have their home next to running fuel generators, roads packed with combustion engine vehicles, or a large nuclear reactor and fuel deposit. These things create amounts of noise, smell and practical risk that I have never heard one human describe as pleasant, unless they have another quiet, ecologically sound retreat. Some of the more stout contrarians even talk about their own citadels.
So why advocate for building the noisy, hazardous trash no one wants to live near?
Some kind of cynical idea that the majority should or deserve to live under squalid conditions, because only exceptional merit should afford you access to an actually livable home?
I find the concern about the long term atmospheric impact of emissions almost immaterial compared to the idea that I want to shape the environment in ways that actually make pleasant to live in. A few interspersed National Parks make no livable planet, and insensitivity towards natural beauty make no strength character.
If I understand this right, a client side language filter would sound interesting. I would however also like a keyword filter then, and potentially even a content blocker tie in against spam URLs.
No idea about the performance cost of such features.
Except for Tor
Nah, no need to accumulate more large amounts of poisonous materials, the world has enough of that already.
Also feeling proud that public protest managed to prevent putting a reactor into operation in my country a few decades ago.
I resent the hubris that nuclear power generation so transparently exhibits.
Besides, I believe Tesla that earth can generate enough power from renewables, the rest of our ecosystem does too.
Obviously I brace for the seed oil free, stake infused attacks this note seems prone to generate, but at least once in a while someone should break the pseudo-reasonable, pseudo-moderate nuclear lobbying that has somehow infiltrated the BTC community.
Also feels incredibly comfortable to live in close distance to the plethora of Ukranian reactors right now, so safe, so clean, so prosperous, until a hostile army shows up.
Yeah, I noticed how passionately you felt about the issue, and I thought it deserved some engagement.
I currently lack the skills to implement any such changes for a PR, I can only hope that some of the project devs find the thread worthwhile to read.
For me, and I tried making a possibly obscure Roman history joke out of it, I feel as strongly about changing the recently introduced ellipsis menu. I think the current placement makes notes appear unnecessarily busy, alas, the sentiment seems to go unnoticed, perhaps deservedly though.
What about indenting on the left, but in combination with reducing the timeline profile picture size?
I find it unnecessary to have the avatars that prominent.
And let the content reach closer to the right edge.
I appreciate the widescreen impression that content can give with small indentation, but I can appreciate the case for structuring the timeline by with a separated avatar icon column.
Also, I think the ellipsis menu should replace the share menu.
I can appreciate the reasoning, but for me it comes down to a simpler argument. Mobile devices have small screens, clients should use the maximal available free space for content display.
Ceterum censeo that the ellipsis menu should replace the share menu and integrate its features.
Torte schaut großartig aus!
I have had no chance to run a regular node yet, but I use Phoenix wallet, which technically also includes a full LN node, and which I assume runs Eclair, coming from Acinq.
I like the design decisions Acinq have taken with Phoenix, minimal compromises on self custody, adopting Kotlin as multi plattform IDE, which turned my attention towards Eclair.
I definitely want to learn more about the notable differences between the different LN implementations before setting up my own node.
I have inquired with them in regard to the iOS source, never received a reply, even after polite follow ups.
I found their collaborative multisig feature really attractive, but after looking just a little closer I could only conclude to refrain from using it.
