The start of what is now known as the EU goes back longer and is the European Coal and Steel Community established in 1951. Six countries decided to share sovereignty over their defense industries with the very explicit goal of preventing future wars
Can you explain why though?
The EU achieved it's main goal of peace in Europe since the Treaty of Rome in the 1950s. It's single market has brought prosperity to hundreds of millions of people.
Sure, it's far from perfect and there's plenty of room for improvement, but ditching it altogether would really only benefit Europe's enemies
Interesting! Maybe something wrong on the Amethyst side then (app I'm currently using)
I still can't see the quoted post, nor the author's info. (although I do see it's Patrick Breyer when hitting reply)
Can you weigh in on this nostr:nprofile1qqsyvrp9u6p0mfur9dfdru3d853tx9mdjuhkphxuxgfwmryja7zsvhqpzamhxue69uhhv6t5daezumn0wd68yvfwvdhk6tcpz9mhxue69uhkummnw3ezuamfdejj7qgwwaehxw309ahx7uewd3hkctcscpyug?
I hope that at least their cloud software works 😂

If you like kids riding bikes like there's no tomorrow, come visit the Netherlands! Most kids here ride from the age of 3 or 4 on public roads (preferably without helmets). It gives them the freedom to go places (school, friends, swimming pool, etc) independently quite early on
Bike infrastructure here is insane btw
🍻
I'd celebrate that! But it seems we're not quite there yet 🫤
Happy to buy up their bitcoin though 😁
Each organ, each cell, each molecule, each atom...
Humankind is a social species and human action is often social 🤔
Great thing then that NixOS is open-source and can be forked and further developed by devs who leave their politics at home
Just got off a call with a human rights activist and director at Ideas Beyond Borders. Some key quotes
“You can’t bomb democracy into people”
“It’s really expensive to be poor.”
I connect with human rights folks as much as possible, both for nostr:npub1fpcd25q2zg09rp65fglxuhp0acws5qlphpg88un7mdcskygdvgyqfv4sld and offline convos. They came to learn about Bitcoin, not because they wanted to get rich or even cared for Bitcoin “the thing,” but because they already saw broken money, broken governments, and the need for a better tool (besides the black markets they’re already using). When Bitcoin is presented, they’re already likely to at least understand the idea of why it’s important.
And also, I can’t overstate the impact nostr:npub17xvf49kht23cddxgw92rvfktkd3vqvjgkgsdexh9847wl0927tqsrhc9as and nostr:npub1trr5r2nrpsk6xkjk5a7p6pfcryyt6yzsflwjmz6r7uj7lfkjxxtq78hdpu has had on human rights and activists around the world, slowly but surely, getting by and understanding bitcoin. The amount of times I’ve heard “Alex told me about bitcoin,” it’s just insane the impact he’s had. 🫡
The human rights case is WHY I’m here. Most everything else is just noise. Freedom go up or bust ✊🏻
Seems to be a common trait amongst the best bitcoiners (that otherwise vary quite wildly from left to right) 🔥
First saw Chain Duel at Bitcoin Amsterdam last year and it was sooo much fun 😁
Is it just me or has #Nostr seen some significant growth over the last few weeks? I keep running into new interesting npubs to follow that I had no clue were on Nostr
How can something be "first" if time doesn't exist? 🤔
How can time and/or energy come after information without time already existing?
Didn't we drop below 60k and hit 58k just a few days ago?
Farage won next Thursdays elections already? Wow, thanks for confirming your own delusionality
Later this morning Jason Maier and I will be recording an ep for nostr:npub1fpcd25q2zg09rp65fglxuhp0acws5qlphpg88un7mdcskygdvgyqfv4sld with David Bailey, CEO of Bitcoin Magazine, about Donald Trump, Bitcoin adoption, and beyond in a respectable and constructive conversation 🤝 🧡
Multiple viewpoints from passionate bitcoiners.
What questions do you have? 👀
Did he really think through the risks of making #Bitcoin a political/partisan issue? If yes, what are the downsides and how does he think those are mitigated?
